You’ll love sitting by the cozy, wood burning fireplace on the lower level of Prufrock Coffee Company in midtown. You might even lose track of time as you relax as your kids play happily in the toy area located under the stairs. Upstairs, you’ll hear the sounds of milk being steamed and clattering dishes in this midtown coffee shop. We’re always looking for fun places to play indoors with our kids, so I was excited to learn that Prufrock had a little play area perfect for preschoolers and toddlers.
Food and Drink
A delightful menu of hot drinks are available daily and an assortment of pastries and other snacks are in the cold case, ready to be heated or enjoyed as they are. Kids (and adults) love the Vanilla Steamer and hot chocolate. The raspberry danish or chocolate croissant are heavenly, especially when they’re served warm.
Children’s Play Area at Prufrock Coffee
The comfy decor inside of Prufrock Coffee is made up of repurposed pieces and oversized sofas. The colors on the walls are bright and cheery and the shelves are lined with a book collection. A cheery potted plant sits atop each table, a table made from reclaimed wood and metal. The children’s play area creates a special place for kids to tinker with toys, read a book or work on homework while their adults chat and enjoy their warm beverages.
While this isn’t a play cafe like Little Village Playroom, Prufrock Coffee in Indianapolis is set to be a hip neighborhood meeting place, a great spot for hanging out and staying warm in the winter or cooling off during the warmer months. I envision many local parenting groups and mom groups gathering for a meet up, busy working parents bringing their laptops to work while their kids play and baby showers and celebrations taking place under this roof.
The bathroom is located on the first floor/ground floor and has a changing table. Parking is available on the street.
Prufrock Coffee Company is located at 5168 N. College Ave., Indianapolis. See their website for hours.
