My kids are just getting to the age where we can enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate. Of course, the kids usually want to wait until the hot chocolate is more lukewarm in temperature, rather than hot. At least that gives us some time to enjoy the coffee shop and bakery atmosphere! Here is our family’s list of favorite hot chocolate places!

LuLu’s Coffee and Bakehouse

2292 W 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46260
Located on the northwest side of Indianapolis, this cute coffee shop offers a rich and delicious hot chocolate and some lovely pastries.

Strange Brew Coffee Shop

4800 West Smith Valley Road, Greenwood, IN 46142
Known as the “oldest coffee shop in Greenwood,” this funky coffee shop has a pretty delicious hot chocolate too. Come for the hot chocolate, stay for the atmosphere!

901 E 64th St, Indianapolis, IN 46220
Also located in Broad Ripple, Brics is technically an ice cream shop, but it also has a pretty delicious hot chocolate! Open year round, it is also a perfect stop after a brisk walk on the Monon!

South Bend Chocolate Company

Downtown location: 30 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN 46204
This is our favorite place to go when we’re downtown in the evening. Try the Mexican Hot Chocolate or the Dark Hot Chocolate, they are sure not to disappoint! The location also makes for a perfect setting; a cup of hot chocolate with the kids, surrounded by the nighttime holiday lights on the Monument!

Monon Coffee Company

920 E Westfield Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46220
At the heart of Broad Ripple is this inviting and cozy coffee shop. After a walk on the Monon, it is a great place to pop in for a warm hot chocolate.

Hubbard and Cravens

With three stand-alone locations in Indianapolis (and one in Carmel), the local coffee roaster also offers a lovely hot chocolate for those non-coffee drinkers.

Café Patachou

With several locations in Indy, coming in for the French Hot Chocolate is certainly worth a visit alone! But if you’re looking for something to eat as well, the food is pretty fantastic (and Café Patachou has a great kid’s menu).
