ROAD TRIP: Animal Safari Park, Port Clinton, Ohio

Last year we had a wonderful opportunity that I encourage everyone to take! We drove to Port Clinton, Ohio and spent the afternoon at the Drive Through Animal Safari Park. The trip was over five hours one way so this is definitely classified as a road trip. I would recommend staying overnight and checking out some of the other things to do in the area (there are beaches, ferry boats and more) like Cedar Point!

We spent some time on the beach but the highlight of our trip was the Safari. Lulu didn’t scream or panic once but I can’t say the same for myself! What a thrill it was to see an animal approach the car, stick it’s face in the car, sneeze on you and grab a carrot from your hand. Once I turned away from the window to say something to my husband and within seconds there was a creature snorting in my ear through the open car window! If I don’t feel too silly, I might upload one of the videos of the reactions of everyone in the car.

The rates and schedule vary throughout the year but no matter what you pay, it is worth it! Ages 7 and up are generally less than $20, age 4-6 are less than $13 and kids under 4 are free. Be sure to check their website for deals and coupons. Generally, you can find a coupon that allows your entire car (up to 6 people) in for less than $40 in the spring.

Admission includes unlimited drive-thru and walk-thru access, animal rides (restrictions apply), pig races, animal shows, and one free cup of animal food (limit one per car per visit). Additional animal feed is available for purchase and I recommend buying it! For the humans, there are places to eat while you are at the park.

With all that there is to do at the Safari Park, you could be there all day! Completely worth the drive!
