November 2: Dive-In Movie

What could be better than relaxing indoors in the water and watching a movie? The Hendricks Y is having an all-ages “Dive-In” in the program pool. Moana will be showing and everyone is welcome to splash around. Pack some goodies and enjoy snacks in the Family Center or Atrium while you are there.

November 5: Home School Program – Pilgrims and the Mayflower

Participants are invited to listen, and are also encouraged to present a topic during this recurring homeschool class. The topic for this one is the 400th anniversary of the landing of the Mayflower that will be happening next year. A possible topic could be what life was like for the Pilgrim children. November 7: UPaint A Story – Toddler/Preschool Story Time

Bring the kids to hear a story, eat a snack and to paint a super cute turkey keepsake handprint plate! Pick your colors and after your plate is painted, it is glazed and then fired in the kiln. November 10: Open Studio – Gratitude Wands

An all-age family workshop! During this open studio led by Julie Scott, kids will be shown how to wrap, embellish, create, & dazzle a beautiful wand with a focus on how to show gratitude. Each child will make 2 wands—-one to keep & one to give! This is a friendly, colorful, quaint space for kids to explore their creativity. The owner Laura and instructors are super nice! Cost: $10 in advance, $13 at the door.
November 15: Sky Zone Plainfield – Snowman Toddler Time

Toddlers and their parents can come for an hour of fun with Olaf! Join this lovable snowman in the foam pit, on Sky Slam, or during free-jump on the Main Court. This event also happens on November 16 from 9 am – 10 am and November 17 from 10 am – 11 am. Olaf will also be there at Free Jump that happens an hour after each Toddler Time. November 15 and 16: James and the Giant Peach, Jr.

James discovers a magic potion while chopping down an old fruit tree. The potion grows a huge peach that rolls into the ocean! On his journey James meets singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the water, while facing problems and predators. A great story about learning to work together. November 19: Preschool Storytime: Gobble Gobble

This preschool-age class is a fun way for kids to get used to the classroom setting they will have in school! The same-themed class usually also takes place the same week on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 am – 10:45 am, and themes change weekly. Parents wait out in the library, while the students are led by a librarian to color, sing, read and work on a craft. Cost: Free; Ages: 3.5-6; Registration begins November 5th here.
November 28: Gobble Gallop 5K

Want something for you and the family to do on Thanksgiving that is good for your health? Walk or run during the 3 mile 9th Annual Gobble Gallop! If you register by 11/14 you are guaranteed to receive a long-sleeved T-Shirt and participation medal. There will be pies awarded to the overall and age group winners. Proceeds support giving financial assistance for Y memberships to those in need. Ages: All (strollers are welcome); Cost: Family of 4 – $112 (now-11/14) or $128 (11/15-11/26). November 28: Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner

The Plainfield Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner Community would like to invite you to dinner! You don’t need to be alone or in need to come. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie will be prepared by professional Chef Bryan Agan. If you are not able to dine-in, they still have you covered! Carry-out will be available, or you can schedule a meal delivery if you live in Guilford Township. November 29: Christmas On The Square “Light Up Danville”

Come and take a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus and some of your other favorite Christmas friends as you walk around the Courthouse Square! There will be plenty to do, including a trackless train, cookie decorating, a Live Nativity, an extreme slide on Marion Street, a giant snow globe and caroling by the Treblemakers.
