Are you a parent or caregiver always on the lookout for new and fun activities do to with kids? Brownsburg is, without a doubt, a great location in the Central Indianapolis area. It’s a major hub for the Lucas Oil Raceway, and over the years the town has seen significant changes in its infrastructure. With those changes has come even more family-friendly places to go and explore! From toddlers to teens, there’s a family-friendly activity or attraction to satisfy every interest in your family. We’ve put together a great list of fun places to check out in Brownsburg with kids.
Indoors
Kids Planet
499 Southpoint Circle, Suite 101-102, Brownsburg
Kids Planet is one of those indoor play spaces that we have loved visiting year-round. As you walk in, this inviting space has a fun arcade area with all sorts of games for littles and teens, with cards that can be purchased and loaded for play time. The games tickets also get loaded on the card, and can be redeemed for little toys, trinkets, and candy. This play space boasts a multi-level playground with all sorts of cool nooks to discover. The playground features a ball pit with ball canons (that’s always a favorite for my boys), racing slides, large multi-level tube slide, extra large Legos to build all sorts of cool forts and buildings, lots of unique tunnels, and a trampoline.
For my parents worried about littles, there is a toddler area for children 3 years and younger only. This toddler area has an adorable soft ball swing for littles to sit on and go around, a smaller ball pit with a slide, soft climb-on toys, and building blocks. To enter the playground, all children must wear special socks, as well as parent’s who wish to be with their smaller children. There are restrooms located downstairs and upstairs. There is also a large concession area upstairs selling pizza, hot dogs, and concession favorites. Kids Planet offers a 20% off discount for military families or groups of 5 or more. It’s a wonderful place to take kids of all ages for a fun and energetic day.
The Well Community Center
554 Pit Road, Brownsburg
The Well Community Center is another gem in Brownsburg for kids. This playspace, located in The Well Community Church, welcomes visitors during its designated hours of free play. Availability is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am-1pm and 5pm-9pm. The playspace features a multi-level playground, with tunnels, large tube slides, and lots of great riding toys. A toddler zone equipped with smaller slides, cozy coupes, and toys tailored to little ones is the perfect space to take little ones who are crawling or starting out walking. There is ample seating, tables and chairs for snacking, and TV’s for parents to enjoy as kids play. Everyone playing must have sock on, but if you forget to bring socks; don’t worry because the center will let you borrow some during your visit. This is a great free play space to check out with kids.
Brownsburg Bowl
18 Whittington Drive, Brownsburg
Who doesn’t love a game of bowling? My kids absolutely adore the game, especially when school is out during the Summer. Brownsburg Bowl offers 28 lanes of bowling fun, as well as an arcade, with all sorts of games for little ones to teens and parents. While enjoying the facility, you can also enjoy a something yummy to eat form their Bow Wow Snack bar, which features foods such as pizza, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks. Every Friday and Saturday they have a Kozmic Rock N’ Bowl special, which includes shoes and two hours of Kozmic bowling for $13 per person. There’s also a “Two for Tuesdays” special, where everything is only $2, including bowling games, rental shoes, drinks, and much more.
Board & Brush Creative Studio
442 E. Main Street, Brownsburg
Board & Brush may seem like more of an adult place to get creative, but it’s also a great place to take kids and let their imagination come to life. At the Brownsburg location, you are greeted warmly and shown all the steps to creating your masterpiece with kids. Once at the table, visitors are given the wood piece of their choice, sanding tools, stains, paints, and free rein for your creativity. Board & Brush has some incredible DIY workshops for all sorts of levels of DIYer’s. They also allow for special events, which would make for a fun and creative teen birthday party, plus everyone gets to keep what they have created for years to come.
Brightly Art Studio
1451 S. Green Street, Brownsburg
Brightly believes in “Nurturing and celebrating creativity in all of its forms.” This a colorful and joyous place for families to visit. Brightly Art Studio offers an array of art processes for kids, whether your child likes painting, sculpting or web art, there’s something for everyone. The studio offers preschool playgroup for kids ages 1.5-5 years. At this playgroup, children will use art and play to develop skills, plus making wonderful memories and pieces to keep. There also a five-week art clubs for kids to join, with two age levels. The yellow club is for ages 4-6, and the teal club is for ages 6-10. Each club has a theme, and kids get to create a unique art piece with hands-on experience based around that theme. The materials and tools used are age-appropriate and provided for the use of young artists. The studio has many other unique and creative ways for kids to showcase their talents, from various labs to specialized camps, there is something for each child in your family.
Press Play Gaming Lounge
1004 E. Main Street, Brownsburg
Press Play Gaming Lounge in Brownsburg is the ultimate family fun experience. The only one of its kind in Hendricks county, this lounge boasts plenty of ways families can have a relaxing and fun experience. There are TV Pods, equipped with couches and large screen TVs to watch sports or play Xbox games. Visitors can also enjoy a game of virtual reality with many current game choices to pick from. Who doesn’t love a battle royale game of Nerf Wars? At Press Play, they have your kids covered with an epic Nerf War battlefield, plus the option for a 3-point challenge game, where winner of at least 10 points receives a prize. The lounge also offers a food menu featuring appetizers, drinks, pizza, hot dogs, combos, snacks packs, and food packages.
Kidz Art

Brownsburg loves its art scene, and another great place offering kids a way to get artistic is KidzArt. Locate in the Hope Community Church, kids learn to use visual and perceptual tools to make masterpieces. At Kidz Art, classes begin with toddler age through teens and adults. Each class allows children to get creative and use tools that are within their age group. At the toddler level, expect art with music, movements, and creative play. For preschoolers, they learn to build fine motor skills while working with different media to create works of art. For elementary kids, ta variety of skills and techniques are utilized. Teenzart, provides everything to experiment with inks, LED lights, paints, wood, and so much more. This is a great place to take kids of all ages to learn something new within the artistic field.
Fusion Gymnastics
582 Pitt Road, Brownsburg
Fusion Gymnastics is a great place for kids to get their energy out, all while learning a new sport and friends. This location features several great activities and classes for families and kids. They offer mommy/daddy and me classes to little ones, from walking to 3 years old. In these classes, children will learn develop and build both motor and social skills. There are also a variety of classes for preschool aged kids and elementary aged kids. Fusion Gym also offers a “Mighty Ninjas” program for boys 4 years and older. In this class, students will learn to navigate obstacle courses, gymnastics, and various activities. The class is designed to develop balance, coordination, agility, strength, and movement in boys. They also offer open gym for members and non-members, with designated time slots for each age group.
Brownsburg Public Library
450 S. Jefferson Street, Brownsburg
Undergoing major renovations recently, the Brownsburg public library is more than your typical library. The newly renovated children’s area is equipped with all sorts of toys for kids to play with, a large train table, Lego table, beautiful play kitchen with accessories, lots of great puzzles and large animal seats for kids to sit on while reading a book. Brownsburg library also offers family activities throughout the year and a selection of incredible books for kids to checkout.
Outdoor
Natural Valley Ranch
6310 E. County Road 350 N., Brownsburg
With 78-acres of scenery in Hendricks county, Natural Valley Ranch is a great destination for kids and families to learn all about horses. The ranch offers guided trail rides in either 30- or 60-minute increments, with advance reservations required. Whether you or your child are a beginner or just need a refresher at horseback riding, the ranch offers lessons to all levels to help improve riding skills. The ranch has a large cabin with ample space and restrooms for visitors. They also have a pot belly pig pet, rabbits, goats, chickens, ducks, and a sheep for kids to see and pet.
Throughout the year there are family events such as the Babies at the Ranch, where families are invited to see little baby animals, learn all about horses, enjoy pony rides and games. There is also Cookies and Cocoa during wintertime, and Candy Cane Hunt during Christmastime. This ranch offers something for everyone and is wonderful place to learn about horses.
Lucas Oil Raceway
10267 E. US Highway 136, Indianapolis
We all know Indiana is home to the Indy500 and hosts amazing events leading up to the race, but did you know central Indiana is also home to drag racing? Located off of Highway 136, Lucas Oil raceway is a complex made up of a .686-mile paved oval, a .25 mile drag strip, and 2.5 mile road course. Races and events happen throughout the year from Spring through Labor Day. If you have kids who love the indy500 or seeing cars race, this is a great place to check out.
Oinking Acres Farm Rescue & Sanctuary
8420 N. County Road 650 E., Brownsburg
My first thought when I heard of Oinking Acres was that it was a farm rescue just for pigs, but Oinking Acres is so much more. This rescue sanctuary adopts all sorts of farm animals and provides them with a loving home for those who are adoptable. The farm offers tours to the public for people to get an opportunity to see and interact with the pigs and animals, with a required $10 donation per person to be able to tour the farm and feed the animals. There are no restrooms on-site, so I highly recommend stopping at a nearby restaurant to use the restroom before heading over to the farm.
Hogan Farms
8900 E. County Road 1000 N., Brownsburg
Hogan Farms is a family-owned farm that boasts fall experiences for the entire family. This farm is open throughout Fall months, and includes a spectacular corn maze experience open daily, excluding Mondays, during the month of October. There is a large pumpkin patch for picking, as well as a fun hayride, and if your kids like farm animals like mine do, they’ll love the animal experiences on the farm! Every Saturday and Sunday there is a kid zone area with a hay pyramid, bounce houses, and adorable areas to take Fall pictures.
Montrose Farms Alpaca Ranch
3750 N. 950 E., Brownsburg
This alpaca ranch is located in Hendricks County and Central Indiana. Unique opportunities are offered for everyone to get a little close-up of an alpaca through yoga and educational tours. From 9-10 am on the first and third Saturday of each month, he ranch hosts an alpaca yoga session. Bring a mat to enjoy a wonderful outdoor session of yoga, all while surrounded by alpacas. They also host a National Alpaca Day open house, where visitors can see the alpacas on the farm, view a spinning demonstration, and get to purchase some unique alpaca gear. They also offer a soap felting class; everyone will learn to wet-felt carded fleece from the alpacas at Montrose Farms onto a bar of goat milk soap. This is unique and useful activity to do with family or friends, with a souvenir to be enjoyed at home.
Enchanted Fairy Trail
Various Locations Throughout Brownsburg
Spanning across the majority of Hendricks county, the Enchanted Fairy Trail was started by a local Brownsburg resident to bring a fun and unique environment to kids and their families. The fairy trail features adorable little fairy homes and scenery for everyone to check out. At each stop, kids can send a letter to a fairy or parents can scan the code to reveal something special for everyone to see. It’s an fun day activity for the whole family.
Williams Park
940 Locust Lane, Brownsburg
One of the largest parks in Brownsburg is Williams Park. This park is an all-time favorite for kids and adults of all ages and loads of fun. It has a large, wooden play structure that’s space themed. As you approach the playground your greeted with a “Blast off” sign, and large wooden spaceship structure that’s great for kids to play on. The playground features lots of ramps, steps, and climbing structures for kids to go up to the top of the “spaceship”. There are large and small open slides for kids, as well as a variety of swings. There’s also a unique pull contraption, where kids or adults can stand on, then use a spindle to move the ground below them. There is ample parking nearby and picnic tables to enjoy a quick snack. The playground is not wheelchair accessible due to the wood chips, and may pose difficulty for certain strollers.
Just a short walk down the park, is an additional playground that connects to the splash pad. This playground is newer and was added on when the splash pad was constructed. At this playground, there are “natural” climbing structures like large rocks and wood logs, plus an adorable blue dragonfly seesaw. Next to the playground is the watermill splash pad, which is a great spot for kids to cool down. It has lots of unique splash zones and a super wave that dumps 32-gallons of water. Restrooms are located next to the splash pad, as well as water fountains and picnic tables. The playground isn’t wheelchair accessible, but the splash pad is wheelchair friendly. Our family loves packing a picnic and a change of clothes, then spending most of our day having fun at the playground and splash pad.
Arbuckle Acres
200 N. Green Street, Brownsburg
One of the oldest parks in Brownsburg, Arbuckle Acres Park boasts unique playgrounds. The main area of the park features a large, big kid play structure with a variety of slides, from tube twisty slides to open straight slides. The play structure has monkey bars and lots of climbing structures to reach the top of the play structure. There’s also mommy and me swings and regular swings for kids to play on. Near the playground is White Lick Creek, which is a great spot for creek stomping and having fun during warmer months. There is also a large shelter next to the playground with ample picnic tables and benches for parents to use. There are great trails to walk, run, or ride bikes with family. One of our favorite activities at the park is to walk the trails during Spring and discover all the beautiful flowers along the paved path.
Next to the main playground is a new “tiny tot playground” that has been a favorite with my kids. It has three houses like structures, each with a different theme. One house is a market & café theme, with an adorable seating area for pretend play and a market for buying things. The second structure is a house themed, with a cute mailbox, steps to go into the house, and little windows to look out. The third bright red structure is a fire station, equipped with a pretend fire truck that draws in so many kids to play on. This structures even has a cute Dalmatian puppy to greet kids as they play. This adorable tiny tots’ playground is wheelchair friendly, with its rubber flooring and toys being easily accessible on the outside of the play structures. There are ample parking spaces for visitors and nearby restrooms.
Northwest Community Park
7950 N. County Road 650 E., Brownsburg
A newer park to the Brownsburg community, Northwest playground is a unique one in the sense that it was built and funded by its residents, local businesses, and organizations. Northwest’s playground boasts a 11,700-sq ft wooden playground structure. The playground area is fenced in with a wooden fence and one entrance, allowing kids to stay within the parameter and for parents to feel safe that children will not be wondering off. Throughout the park you’ll notice beautiful and colorful murals painted on parts of the wooden structure, one of my kid’s favorite is the colorful mountain set on a rock-climbing wall. There are two play structures: a big kid area and a toddler area, which is a great way for little to get a chance to play without getting hurt.
The big kid play structure features lots of climbing obstacles to reach the tower, open slides, bridges and adorable colorful xylophone. My four-year-old son loved making music with the large xylophone. The toddler section is an adorable area for little ones, its themed as a farm, equipped with a colorful red barn that has smaller rock-climbing area, a small open slide, and small mushroom steppingstones. Even though my one-year-old isn’t walking yet, she has fun going down the slide and playing in the barn area. The playground also features seesaw, riding animals, toddler swings, regular swings, a tire swing, and adaptive swings. This is truly a great park for kids and caregivers to explore. This playground does have some ramps and adaptive swing, but it not wheelchair friendly due to the woodchips.
The park has ample parking space, restrooms nearby, a ¾ of a mile walking trail that is mulched, an 18-hole disc golf course and a fishing pond. It’s opened dawn to dusk.
West Chase Golf
4 Hollaway Boulevard, Brownsburg
What kid doesn’t love a good round of golf? West Chase golf is committed to providing a great golf experience, and they also provide junior golf. They are committed to growing the game of golf with junior golf lessons, tournaments, and junior golf leagues. Families can also visit for daily play with 9- or 18-hole options, with options to walk or rent a cart. West chase Golf is a great way to spend an outing outdoors with kids.
Brownsburg Farmers Market
61 N. Green Street, Brownsburg
The Brownsburg Farmers Market is a wonderful place to take kids to learn about fresh produce and get a chance to learn about local vendors during Summer months. The farmers market in Brownsburg features lots of large family games to play once your done shopping. IU Health has partnered with the farmers market to offer ways for kids to have fresh food and learn about being healthy through activities and getting a chance to earn free produce. The POP Club for Kids at the Brownsburg Farmers also hosts a week of sports-based obstacle courses, with prizes and samples of fresh produce. There is a kids farmers market day, where children can register to “sell” their products that can range from home goods to art pieces or anything they have created. It’s a great way for kid to learn about entrepreneurship.
