As you celebrate Earth Day, Cool Creek Nature Center hopes you will include a visit to the nature center for an open-house style celebration of our wonderful planet! Earth Day and Arbor Day crafts will be available throughout the end of April, various native trees in bareroot seedling form will be available for FREE, milkweed seed packets will be available, native trees and shrubs will be for sale in the greenhouse, and several fun hikes will be offered. While you are there, they hope you will enjoy their exhibits which can provide ideas on ways you can make your
yard more nature friendly.
11-11:30 AM- Creek and Critters Earth Day Program 71% of the Earth is covered in water – so let’s celebrate water on Earth Day! Explore Cool Creek Park’s namesake and learn about their creek’s wildlife and protecting waterways. Plan to get your feet wet.
11:00 AM- 1:00 PM Garden Jewelry – Jewelweed You have seen it growing along ditches and in moist, shady areas and have probably been told it is a weed. But this “weed” has a dainty little flower and beneficial properties; it is a common ingredient in poison ivy soaps and lotions! Stop by the jewelweed table for seeds to grow this native flower.
11:00 AM- 2:00 PM Plant Sale by Indiana Organic Gardeners
The Indiana Organic Gardeners Association is having a plant sale for the public. Come and check it out! You can purchase ecologically grown organic vegetable plants, herbs, garden plants, and plant-related items. Bring a homemade and organic dish and join their pitch-in lunch at noon. Become an IOGA member if you’re interested. It’s only $10 a year. Start your gardens early and honor our Earth in a healthy, organic way!
Registration is not required. They will see you there!
