Halloween Town in Franklin | Trunk Your Trunk and Trick the Town

Nothing can scare the town of Franklin from calling off their annual Halloween Town event. This all day event is full of family fun and a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

Franklin Halloween Town

The Halloween Town main events will take place on Saturday, October 24th, 4 – 6 pm with various other events taking place throughout the week. This popular event includes a 5K Run/Walk (virtual for 2020), home decorating contest, trunk or treat and trick or treating at local businesses.

Virtual Halloween Hustle 5K

Register for the virtual 5K before October 14th. Run or walk your own 5K and then report your time to the Franklin Parks and Recreation Facebook page. T-shirt pick up is Thursday, October 22nd at the recreation center from 9 am – 7 pm. Registration forms available at the Cultural Arts and Recreation Center and online at franklinparks.org.

Halloween Home Decor Contest

Participating homes must be decorated by Friday, October 23rd. Judging will take place the weekend of October 24th-25th. A team of local citizens will visit the homes and the winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 27th. A map of participating homes is available on the Franklin Parks Facebook page. Contact Holly Johnston at (317) 346-1198 or hjohnston@franklin.in.gov to sign up. Must register by October 19th to participate. Your home must be within Franklin city limits to participate.

Trick the Town & Trick Your Trunk

Cars will be set up on N. Main Street from Jefferson Street to King Street for Trick Your Trunk, a trunk or treat event. Several downtown businesses will be handing out candy for Trick-The-Town. Kids will be able to collect treats from decorated trunks, trucks and downtown businesses from 4-6pm. If you are interested in decorating a trunk and passing out candy, please contact Holly at (317) 346-1198 to reserve a spot. Reservations are free but you must turn in a registration form, and you must provide your own decorations and candy at the event. Prizes will be awarded for the best “tricked” trunks. Trick-or-treaters must wear masks.

Artcraft Theatre Halloween Films

In addition, the historic Artcraft Theatre is showing the classic film, “Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy.” During the 7:30 pm showing, fans can meet the famous Indiana horror host, Sammy Terry.

Franklin announced their official Halloween trick or treating hours for October 31st.
