Free Summer Camps and Low Cost Summer Camps in Indianapolis

Summer Camp season is right around the corner and it’s time to start figuring out where your kids are headed to summer camp. We’ll be sharing all of the Indianapolis area’s free and low-cost summer camps that we can find. These summer camp programs are free!

Free Summer Camps

Kids Dance Outreach offers a tuition-free summer camp for kids ages 8-11. The KDO program uses unique dance styles along with live music, allowing students of every level to succeed! Space is limited and will be on a first-come first served basis. *No previous dance experience necessary. A $25 one-time registration fee reserves your spot at camp!

The Joyful Noise Music Summer Camp at Christ Church is free! Do you know a child who enjoys music, art, and making new friends? Consider our week-long FREE summer day camp for kids in rising grades 3rd through 8th! Campers will make new friends in an inclusive Christian community, develop new musical and artistic skills, and take daily field trips around downtown Indy. Campers receive breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

There are a number of camps at Butler University that offer full tuition assistance to families who qualify for free/reduced lunch or students who are 21st Century Scholars or first-generation students, with other circumstances taken into consideration. Most camps just require a small registration fee once tuition assistance has been awarded. Apply for need-based assistance for ANY Of the Butler Community Arts School camps (serving ages 7-adult), Philosophy & Critical Thinking Camp for high school students ( limited assistance spots), and BU: BeReal – a new leadership and college experience camp for high school students (limited assistance spots available). 

StarPoint Camp at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is a free/low-cost camp for children. Four week-long summer camp sessions are offered at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for ages 6 – 12 years old. This camp is designed for children who live in the neighborhood where the museum is located (Crown Hill, Highland Vicinity, Historic Meridian Park, Mapleton-Fall Creek, Meridian Highland, and Watson-McCord) and Access Pass members. There is a $20 deposit fee required for Neighborhood residents and Access Pass holders.

The Carmel Fire Department hosts a Firefighter for a Day camp every summer for kids aged 7-13 years old. If your child aspires to be a firefighter or simply enjoys pretending to be one, the annual Carmel Fire Department Firefighter for a Day children’s camp is the perfect one-day event for your child. Kids will experience what it’s like to be a firefighter and play a lot of really fun games. Camp is free AND includes lunch and a t-shirt for each child.

Information coming soon for Indiana Pacers one day Jr. Pacers Hoops Camps. These free, one-day events are open to children ages 6-14 years old and include a t-shirt for each child, prizes, Portillo’s lunch, games, and basketball skill instruction. In the past, the camps take place 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at five different central Indiana locations.
 
The Brownsburg Fire and Police Departments host summer camps for children ages 7-13 years old. Kids will learn and have fun with team-building skills, values, ethics, and safety procedures. Camps take place at Williams Park and are five days long. These free summer camps run from 8 am to 11:30 am.
