From down the street, the Great Ape of Branson grabs the attention of little eyes in our car. His giant body appears to have climbed a the high-rises of a city skyline. “Oh mommy! Look!” a tiny voice squeals with excitement as we leave our car behind and walk towards the open building. The giant hand of an ape wraps around the bodies of the family that arrived before us, his face seemingly pleased with his “catch”. A photo is snapped and they move forward into the Hollywood Wax Museum.
While it’s not likely that my children will ever meet Tom Hanks, Lucy Liu or Lucille Ball, they have photographs with them (appearing as one of their famous movie characters). Lulu will not likely marry George Clooney (“WHO?!” she asks) but she posed for a photo with him in a wedding chapel while wearing a gown. This was wholesome family fun!
Oh and I won’t ever hang out with Hugh Hefner while wearing bunny ears…or will I?
Scandalous, I know.
For nearly 50 years, Hollywood Wax Museum has brought fans up close and personal with their favorite celebrities, or rather frighteningly perfect wax replicas of them. While Hollywood Wax is not a “hands on” museum, visitors are encouraged to step into the scene with or have seat with their favorite star, and you can take as many photos as you like. In fact, the Hollywood Wax Museum in Branson is one of the most popular tourist attractions and it’s the most photographed landmark in the entire area.
