Mark your calendars, flower friends. The Indiana Peony Festival is back on Saturday, May 16, 2026, and it is one of the prettiest, happiest, most “take the kids and also take 400 photos” spring events in Central Indiana.
The festival takes place from 10 am to 4 pm at Historic Seminary Park in Noblesville, located at 350 S. 10th Street. It’s free, open to the public, and absolutely bursting with Indiana’s state flower: the peony.
And yes, this is your permission slip to dress everyone in something cute, toss a picnic blanket in the car, and pretend your children naturally frolic through flowers like they’re in a storybook. Mine usually frolic for six minutes, ask for snacks, and somehow find dirt, but still. It counts.
A Free Festival Celebrating Indiana’s State Flower
The Indiana Peony Festival is all about celebrating the gorgeous, fluffy, over-the-top peony, which just so happens to be Indiana’s state flower. If you’ve never been to this event before, think spring market meets garden party meets downtown stroll, with a little small-town magic sprinkled on top.
The heart of the festival is in Historic Seminary Park, where families can explore beautiful peony displays, floral installations, official festival merchandise, photo backdrops, live music, and plenty of places to shop. You’ll find cut flowers, bouquets, peony plants, clothing, home decor, art, food, drinks, and more from more than 150 local vendors.
Basically, if you’ve ever thought, “I wish everything around me looked like a fancy floral dream board,” this is your day.
If you have little kids, there’s room to wander and explore. If you have bigger kids or tweens, they’ll probably be very into the food, shopping, and photo spots. If you have a kid who insists they hate flowers, bring them anyway. There are snacks, music, vendors, and a brand new playground….and sometimes we do things for the moms.
The festival is beautiful, but it’s not stuffy. You don’t have to whisper around the peonies. You can bring the stroller, pack the snacks, let the kids roam a little, and make a day of it.
It’s also a really sweet way to introduce kids to local makers, artists, farmers, florists, and small businesses. You can walk through booths together, pick out flowers, look at handmade items, listen to music, and turn it into a spring adventure without buying tickets or planning a huge day trip.
The Kids Zone at The Peony Festival
This year, the Kids Zone is getting even better, thanks to Noblesville BOOM. Families can expect games and kid-friendly activities around the Kids Zone, located near the all-new accessible and inclusive playground at Seminary Park.
The new playground is such a big win for families, and the festival will be a wonderful chance for families to enjoy and celebrate the space.
So here’s the plan: grab a drink, let the kids play, then wander over to the vendor booths. It’s the kind of day where you can bounce between flowers, snacks, shopping, music, and playground time without having to entertain everyone every single second. We love that.
Sip, Shop, and Stroll Through Noblesville
As the Indiana Peony Festival continues to grow, the celebration has spread beyond Seminary Park and into downtown Noblesville and the courthouse lawn. Festival organizers are bringing new experiences to those spaces for 2026, with more details coming soon. That means families can make a whole day out of it. Start at Seminary Park for the main festival, explore the floral displays and vendors, let the kids play, then stroll through downtown Noblesville for more shopping, treats, and springtime fun.
Downtown Noblesville is already one of my favorite places to walk around with kids because it has that charming, “let’s just see what we find” feel. Add in flowers everywhere, local vendors, and a community festival, and suddenly your Saturday feels very Pinterest, but in real life.
Tips for Visiting The Peony Festival with Kids
Since this festival is free and open to the public, it’s a great low-pressure day out. You can stop by for an hour or turn it into a full family adventure.
A few mom-to-mom tips: bring sunscreen, water bottles, a picnic blanket, and a stroller or wagon if you have younger kids. The festival runs from 10 am to 4 pm, so you can decide whether your family is more of a “get there early before everyone melts down” crew or a “roll in after lunch and hope for the best” crew.
You’ll also want your phone charged, because the photo spots and floral displays are going to be gorgeous. This is one of those events where even your blurry kid-running-away photos somehow look dreamy because there are flowers everywhere.
