Brownsburg Kid-Friendly Restaurants

Heading out to a restaurant with kids in tow? Whether you’re looking for something casual, upscale, or some place different, you’re sure to find a great restaurant to take the kids in Central Indiana. Brownsburg has quite a few family-friendly restaurants to choose from, equipped with healthy, exciting, and kid-friendly menus. We’ve curated the perfect list of places for families to eat out in Brownsburg.

Boulder Creek

1551 N. Green Street, Brownsburg

Boulder Creek is a rather upscale restaurant in the Brownsburg area, and though it might seem intimidating to take kids to eat here, rest assured they are truly family-friendly with a great kid’s menu. The inside of the restaurant feels warm and welcoming, with its brick walls and dim lights. As your family is seated, servers bring out fresh bread and oil dip for everyone to enjoy before ordering. The kid’s menu here features lots of great choices, such as penne with red sauce, popcorn shrimp, ribs, bistro steak, chicken parmesan, and much more. Each kid’s entrée comes with a drink, a selection of sides to choose from, and a brownie sundae for dessert. Truly a great place to take your kids, if you’re wanting to dine in an upscale restaurant with children.

The Ice Barn

1500 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

Treat your kids this Summer to something that will cool them during the heat, with a treat from The Ice Barn. This is one of Brownsburg residents’ favorite places to enjoy a yummy cool treat in a relaxed,  family setting. They recently opened a new location with more parking spaces and a large grassy paly area, equipped with outdoor toys and picnic tables for families. The Ice Barn features shaved ice with over 40 flavors to choose from. If you’re looking for something different for your child’s birthday or gathering, there are party packs you can purchase that come with everything you need to make your shaved ice experience fun at home.

Popakernal

1630 S. Green Street, Brownsburg

This family-owned business has been popping popcorn for years and now have their very own store selling all sorts of unique and delicious popcorn flavors. Their popcorn is popped fresh daily, and include unique flavors such as Mac-n-Cheese, Rajun Cajun, and many more. They are open Tuesday-Saturday from 11am-6pm. If you want something different to include at your child’s next birthday or event, Popakernal also caters, with options including popcorn bar, party favors and special events.

Books & Brews

1551 N. Green Street, Brownsburg

Their motto is “Read, Drink, Converse.” At Books and Brews, they are passionate about reading, and you can see that throughout their restaurants. They have multiple locations all over central Indiana, and the one in Brownsburg offers guests books to read while eating or to purchase afterwards. The restaurant offers family-friendly events during the year, including storytimes for kids. Other than books, their brews are great for adults, and include different options throughout the year, as well as seasonal options.  They offer also offer children’s stories for kids ages 12 and under. The menu features grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, a nut-free peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and an adorable charcuterie board for kids. There are fun board games kids can play while waiting for their food, and it’s an overall great family-friendly atmosphere at Books & Brews.

Flap Jacks Pancake House

633 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

Flap Jacks Pancake House is an old-time favorite. Just like its name, flapjacks are known for its assortment of delicious pancakes. One of my kid’s favorites is the strawberry banana split pancake, topped with fresh strawberries and bananas, chocolate chips and drizzle, and whipped cream. They also have sweet or savory crepes that are so soft and delicious. Along with delectable breakfast, they have great gyros, and an assortment of lunch options.

Thai District

5724 N. Green Street, Brownsburg

Thai cuisine is a balance of spicy, sour, sweet, and salty. Whether you have an eater who loves exploring new foods or an eater who prefers to stay within their favorite, Thai District is a great location for families to try new foods. As you enter the restaurant, its atmosphere is upscale with gold dangly chandeliers and warm earthy tones seen and felt within the seating and walls. Thai food is known for its delectable curries and seafood. At Thai District there is a kids menu featuring kid favorites, such as chicken tenders and nuggets, and even kids fried rice. My kids personally prefer trying out the various curries, such as masman curry, and trying out different entrees, such as pad Thai noodles, seafood curries, and the varieties of fried rice. Some dishes may be spicy, be cautious when ordering and choose the mild flavor, if that is more you palette.

Thai Basil

814 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

Thai Basil is another great restaurant serving up delicious, ethnic Thai food. This is a more casual location for families, and offers similar foods as Thai District. There is a variety of curries to choose from, as well as salad, Thai noodles, entrees, and appetizers. My kids’ favorites to order are the fried rice or coconut shrimp. Thai Basil offers lunch specials for only $8.99, which include an entrée, spring rolls, soup, salad, and choice of meat.

Rockstar Pizza

922 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

Rockstar Pizza is home of the hand tossed, deep dish Detroit-style pizza. This pizza shop is a favorite of our family and locals, and it’s also a great place to take kids and grandparents. As you walk in, the walls are adorned with records and pictures of celebrities. The tables are hip and cool, with pictures of famous people. While Rockstar Pizza doesn’t have a specific kid’s menu, the pizza is phenomenal and kid-friendl,y with build your own pizza or specialty style pizzas. They also serve appetizers, wings, oven-baked subs, and salads.

So Italian

515 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

So Italian is a family -owned restaurant that makes you feel like part of the family. This Italian restaurant serves up authentic Italian cuisine, and they offer kid-friendly choices such as various pastas, pizzas, mac-n-cheese. and breadsticks. So Italian has a great deal for families, like a free kid’s mac-n-cheese meal with the purchase of a build-your-own-pasta adult entrée.

Sal’s Famous Pizzeria

1028 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

Sal’s has one of the best pizzas in town, by far.  Locally owned by an Italian family, Sal’s brings fresh quality ingredients to its food. Everything is locally grown or sourced, and the sauces and dough are made fresh daily. Their Neapolitan style pizza is one of the only ones offered in Brownsburg and cooked in a brick oven. The restaurant environment is welcoming and makes any guest feel welcomed, especially with kids.

Hilligoss Bakery

804 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

Hilligoss Bakery has gotten a tremendous number of good reviews, and for a particularly good reason. Their donuts, Danishes, and large cinnamon rolls are so delicious, and  have such a fresh and airy taste to them, they keep all their guests wanting to go back for more. These are great to pick up for a quick morning breakfast with the kids before school, or even on the weekends. We’re a family that loves donuts and this place does not disappoint. There are so many flavors to choose from, but the white cream filled are among our favorite. They also have unique Danishes, topped with all sorts of jellys, creams, and chocolate. They are incredibly delicious and a must try at Hilligoss bakery.

Jack’s Donuts

1531 State Road 267, Brownsburg

Jack’s Donuts are located across Indianapolis, and while there are numerous donut shops offering up great donuts, my family also loves going to Brownsburg’s Jacks donut location for their fresh donuts. We enjoy our donuts to-go or at their location, which is family friendly. They have kid-sized tables and chairs, and coloring pages with crayons for kids to color while eating their donut. There’s also a large TV at the kids corner, with cartoons for little ones to enjoy.

Best Friends Coffee & Bagels

1060 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

This locally owned business by two friends, Best Friends Coffee and Bagels isn’t your typical coffee and bagel café. This café boasts lots of delectable choices in drinks, breakfast items, and lunch, all served up with one-of-a-kind names. They have breakfast sandwiches served all day, A La Carte items, baked goods, coffee, espresso, frappes, iced brews, smoothies, and teas. They also have a kid’s menu, featuring items such as princess sunshine, which is a blueberry bagel with cream cheese and fruity pebbles. This is a great place to venture out for breakfast or a quick delicious specialty drink.

Tegry Bistro

1521 State Road 267, Brownsburg

My kids are currently obsessed with sushi after watching a movie on Netflix called East Side Sushi. Lately, we’ve been venturing out around central Indy to check all the unique sushi spots. One that stuck out to us was Tegry Bistro. It’s an Asian-inspired restaurant that molds together modern cuisine with traditional components, to bring guests something savory to eat. Their menu features an assortment of sushi choices, delicious starters, soups, salads, Asian-inspired entrees, and unique bento boxes. It’s a great place to bring kids to introduce them to sushi and a variety of foods, with unique flavors.

Papa’s Pizzeria & Italian Cuisine

1430 N. Green Street, Brownsburg

If your kids love authentic foods, this restaurant has a great selection of authentic Italian foods, with a great kid’s menu for children 10 years and younger. Their menu is expansive and includes a variety of pastas to choose from, pizzas, salads, dinner specials, entrees, and homemade Italian desserts. We have loved trying their different authentic Italian cuisine. The kids menu features spaghetti, fettuccini  alfredo, mozzarella sticks, and breadsticks. All kid’s menu items are served with a drink. There are also great combo choices to choose from, if your child wants to go beyond the kids menu.

Panoony’s Pizza & Wings

1447 E. Main Street, Brownsburg

Known for their extra-large pizza, Panoony’s is a wonderful and family-friendly place to enjoy a deliciously, cheesy slice of pizza. As you walk in, the staff are friendly and make everyone feel welcomed. Aside from pizza, Panoony’s also has wings, subs, pasta, calzones, salads, and sides. They have a great selection of pizza to choose from. Some of our family favorites are the chicken BBQ and Dioynsis pizza. They have an enormous 30-inch pizza, which is great for large families or parties. You can mix and match parts of the pizza, to be able to test out different flavors. This is a wonderful place to bring your family to eat.

Bru Burger Bar Brownsburg

5724 N. Green Street, Suite 100, Brownsburg

With locations across Central Indiana, Bru Burger Brownsburg is one of my family’s favorite go-to restaurants for a great hearty burger. The restaurant offers an array of delicious all-American burgers. Other than their great taste, our family chooses Bru Burger for their locally sourced meats, produce, and handmade sauces. The ingredients are fresh daily. The restaurant also offers a lamb burger, which has become a favorite of my kids. The lamb is also locally sourced and fresh. They offer great appetizers, such as the triple dip, which is a must-try during a visit to Bru. Their menu also includes salads, sandwiches, dessert, and a kid’s menu. Kid’s menu items include: spiral mac-n-cheese, cheeseburger, and chicken tenders, all served with a choice of fries or fruit and a drink.

Rush Off Main

5767 Green Street, Brownsburg

Known for being “Home of Da Beef”, Rush Off Main is a Chicago-style eatery. The menu features Chicago-style hot dogs, tacos, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and chips. The atmosphere of this restaurant is fun and exciting, and appeals greatly to kids. There are large games for kids to play, an arcade game with large TV, and all sorts of Chicago-inspired memorabilia throughout the eatery. While they don’t have a specific kid’s menu, their food choices are appealing to kids, such as the Vienna beef dog, the Holy cow taco, Da beef sandwich, and the variety of chips. The restaurant also has weekly lunch specials. Mondays are two tacos and chips for $6, Tuesdays are El burger & chips for $6, Wednesdays are the Da beef & chips for $7, and Thursday is the Cuban & chips for $7. Rush Off Main is bringing Chicago to Brownsburg, so families don’t have to journey far for their favorite Chicago eats.
