Quickly becoming a top contender in the DIY craft arena, the area’s newest hot spot is the AR Workshop in McCordsville. While the franchise sets certain specifics, the individual owner is able to let their personal aesthetic shine through. The owner, Kelsey, wanted a place where people could get creative, have fun and take their finished pieces home that day — a welcome change from DIY pottery or glass studios where you, the artist, have to return to retrieve your project or complete more steps to finish it.
Classes for Crafty Kids
The kids’ events are a hit. They are recommended for ages 6/7 and up, but this is really only because the stools are backless and younger kids may not be as steady without a back. At Christmas, AR Workshop offers a four-pack of DIY ornaments. We can’t wait to grab a couple of friends and make a special ornament for their tree. What a cute way to make something for grandma and grandpa or your kiddo’s favorite aunt!
Various events are posted and open to the public. We love the “Youth Drop Off” events. Parents can drop off the kids and enjoy a date night while the kids eat pizza and complete a craft. Selections may include tie-dye, paint pours, and wood or canvas projects.
A Perfect Venue for a Private Event
AR Workshop is great for baby and wedding showers, team-building excursions, birthday parties for any age, and date nights, and it’s the perfect spot for a girls’ night out.
Kelsey also hosts camps during school breaks. During a camp, kids can expect to create a new type of piece every day they attend. Projects include string art, 3D paper & wood, canvas pillows, signs, blocks, and more.

If you are short on time and know what you want, then pick up a take-home kit. Kits for the wood signs include everything you need: wood, stencils, stain, paint, brushes, and instructions. Grab a few and have a date night at home after the kids go to bed or take one to a friend or family member unable to get out of the house.
If you know what you want and have no time whatsoever to create it, Kelsey can make it for you. Need a custom porch sign for a newlywed couple? No problem. Need a snazzy, unforgettable serving tray for a hostess gift? AR Workshop can do that. Kelsey and her team are experts at personalizing your project and making your vision come to light.
Modern Farmhouse not your vibe? AR Workshop offers way more than the rustic, worn-looking wood signs you may associate with the modern farmhouse aesthetic. Dark stain a wall clock, use primary colors on a porch sign, or mix bright acrylic paint and pour it over a serving tray or set of coasters.
