Greenwood Fieldhouse

Are you looking for the perfect spot where your family can play indoors and burn a little energy, or a new venue to host your child’s next birthday party? Greenwood’s newest facility, Greenwood Fieldhouse, offers activities all ages can enjoy together. My kids range from ages 4 to 15 and everyone found plenty to keep them busy on our recent visit, and there’s plenty of fun to be had by mom and dad, too!

Greenwood Fieldhouse

Greenwood Fieldhouse opened in May 2022 and it is a 65,000-square-foot facility. For those familiar with the area, the city has repurposed the old Greenwood Middle School.

Greenwood Fieldhouse Old School Court

There are nods to its history inside the entrance where you’ll find the large “Greenwood ” letters that served as the signage outside of the middle school and the beautifully preserved center court “G” from the middle school’s basketball court. The mix of bricks from the old facility and the addition of new courts and windows serves as a great mix of the history of Greenwood and the new state-of-the-art athletic facilities the Greenwood Fieldhouse offers.

Regulation-Sized Turf Field

One of the first spaces you’ll notice as you walk into the Greenwood Fieldhouse is the Main Turf Field on your left. It is a regulation-size futsal field that also hosts leagues for badminton, lacrosse, and soccer.

It was also the site of a recent Nerf on the Turf event where kids ages 6-10 had a nerf battle using their own nerf blasters and Greenwood Parks provided darts. The field can be divided in half by a large net wall and is also used for sports such as tiny t-ball and soccer for preschoolers.

On select Wednesdays, Tots on the Turf is available for kids, ages 3 to 5 years old. They can sign up to play for an hour and try out basketball, soccer, t-ball, golf, and more.

There are bleachers for up to 200 spectators and also overlook seating from the lobby. When you’re not watching the field, you can glance out the wall of windows past the field for an awesome view of the Greenwood landscape.

Basketball, Volleyball, Pickleball, and Batting Cages

Gym options at the Greenwood Fieldhouse are plentiful. The practice court is lined for a volleyball court, and two pickleball courts, and it also has four basketball goals that can be lowered to 8 feet.

The Main Gym is a full-size basketball court with bleacher seating for up to 300 people. The floor is the refinished floors from the old Greenwood Middle School. It is also lined for a volleyball court, four pickleball courts, or two half-court basketball courts.

Simulator Games at Greenwood Fieldhouse

You’ll find the Program Room and Golf Simulators as you walk past the gym. The Program Room is often used for events or classes and fits up to 109 people. At the Golf Simulators, you can choose to play a course or even just a driving range.

Kids will love playing any of the simulator games, from skeeball to mini golf. The Fieldhouse has clubs you can borrow or you can bring your own. (There weren’t any kids’ clubs at the time we visited, so if you have little ones you may want them to bring their own.)

Simulators are only available through rentals and are priced by the bay per hour, $35 for members and $40 for non-members. There is a discount for bays rented during early bird hours, Monday through Friday from 8 am-noon, $30 for members and $35 for non-members.

Fitness Areas

Upstairs, you can take a stroll on the walking track or play on the Auxiliary Turf Field. The walking track overlooks the basketball courts and is 1/10th of a mile. There are different pieces of fitness equipment at points along the track, so you can also strength train during your workout.

The Auxiliary Turf Field is a smaller version of the main turf field and is used for preschooler sports and aerobics classes. It also can be turned into batting cages upon request. There are also several tables and other seating options around the auxiliary field for spectators.

Birthday Parties at the Greenwood Fieldhouse

There are several options of spaces to reserve at the Fieldhouse for your next party. You can reserve the Practice Court and Rental Room that overlooks it from upstairs, the Auxiliary Turf and Stacking Area, or ask about other options.

Each option includes a play space and a spot to sit and eat your cake. You bring the cake and the Fieldhouse will provide the tablecloths, tables, chairs, and even the invitation template.

Parties are available on Saturdays or Sundays in two-hour increments and can host up to 24 children. Prices range from $200 (for up to 12 children) to $250 (for up to 24 children).

Hours and Admission to the Greenwood Fieldhouse

Hours for the Fieldhouse are 7 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays but always call ahead to check for schedule changes. The Fieldhouse also offers open hours each week for pickleball, volleyball, basketball, batting cages, and stroller walking.

Memberships are available, or you can opt for a day pass or a ten-day punch pass. To find more information, visit Greenwood.in.gov/Fieldhouse
