New Exhibit: Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out

There’s a brand new exhibit at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out is a must-visit for families! This exhibit, open from February 3 to May 19, 2024, is perfect for our little ones, especially those aged 3 to 8.

The whole setup is based on the Disney and Pixar movie Inside Out, and it’s all about exploring emotions. My kids were engaged, learning about Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear through fun and interactive activities. There’s something for every child to connect with and learn from.

Here’s a quick rundown of what we loved:

  • Control Panel: This was like being in the movie! The kids got to explore different emotions and see how they change in intensity. It’s a great way for them to understand that it’s okay to feel things strongly sometimes.
  • Emotion Mirrors: They could see how emotions are shown on our faces and in our body language. It’s a fun way for kids to learn about empathy and recognizing how others feel.
  • Memory Sphere: This was a hit! The kids thought about special memories and the feelings they brought up. It was a touching moment to share as a family.
  • Dream Productions: Perfect for our little storytellers. They got creative and put on their own little performances, which was a blast to watch.
  • Train of Thought: This was all about balancing emotions, which isn’t always easy to do. The kids learned how feelings can change and flow.
  • Emotion Blocks: This was a fun, hands-on way for them to see how emotions can work together. It’s a great lesson in emotional complexity.

What’s awesome is that this isn’t just about play. It’s educational, helping our kids understand and express their emotions. I found it super helpful as a parent too. It gave me new ways to talk about feelings with my kids and understand them better.

So, if you’re looking for a fun, educational outing with the kiddos, this exhibit is a fantastic choice. It’s a great way for our little ones to learn about emotions in a setting they’ll love. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter for us parents to continue at home. Hope to see you there!

Don’t forget, you can visit The Children’s Museum for free several times each year. If you buy your tickets at least two weeks in advance, you’ll save up to 20%. Kids aged 2 and under are always free at The Children’s Museum. Indiana residents save $3 off tickets online. On the first Thursday of every month, admission is only $6 per person from 4 pm – 8 pm.
