The Indiana Rail Road’s Santa Train is Coming to Bargersville

The Indiana Rail Road is rolling its vintage red Santa Train into towns across Indiana again for its 32nd year, and Bargersville’s Santa Train stop is one you don’t want to miss! The town in Johnson County south of Indy is Santa’s first stop on Friday, December 2, and will include fun treats, live reindeer, a Christmas Market, and more.

Santa and Mrs. Claus Arrive on the Caboose

Bargersville has created the ultimate holiday experience at its Santa Train stop. The FREE event will run from 4-7:30 pm outside the Town Hall at 24 North Main Street. If you want to catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus’s arrival on the caboose of the train, be sure to find a spot early. The train will arrive promptly at 4:30 pm and depart at 5:00 pm. Beloved characters such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will mingle among the crowd during the visit while festive music plays. If you can’t get there at that time, don’t fret. Santa will deboard the train and station himself at the Town Hall. Girls and boys dreaming of a visit with Santa will be able to see him until 7:30 pm while Mom and Dad snap pictures.

A visit with Santa is just the beginning of this holiday extravaganza. Bargersville city officials will hand out free hot chocolate to warm you up. Guests can pet a real reindeer outside the Town Hall from 5-7 pm. Christmas carolers from the Greenwood High School Choir will sing festive tunes from 5-6 pm. Don’t forget to bring your letter to Santa! There will be a special Santa Mailbox at the Town Hall entrance where you can drop your wish list.

Shop Local at the Christmas Market

For the second year in a row, there will also be a Christmas Market from 4-7:30 pm in conjunction with this Santa Train stop. The market will include over 25 local vendors. You can buy delicious treats from Pap’s Kelle Pop, Lauren Bakes, and Geri Girl Bakery. Buy your furry friend a treat from Wesson’s Canine Bakery. Accessories will be available from Imperfect Clay Earrings. And you can find something for even the most difficult person to buy for on your list from Mallow Run Winery, M&J Woodcrafting, Woven Co Candles, or Toodley Doo Toys. That’s just a sampling of the vendors available. You’re sure to find something for everyone on your list while strolling through the many tents.

Both kids and adults will enjoy the festivities at the Bargersville Santa Train stop. Make this evening a part of your family’s holiday traditions this year!
