A mad scientist’s bubbling test tube, frightening monsters, and ghoulish goodness… What more could you want for some Science-centered spookiness this Halloween season?

Family Fright Night at the Indiana State Museum

First up we have, Family Fright Night at the Indiana State Museum on October 11th. This event lasts from 6-9pm. You are invited to dress in your Halloween best for a night of spooky fun. You will have the opportunity to join the mad scientist on staff in his lab, where you can help perform experiments, discover monsters that call Indiana home, get a little lost in a frightening cardboard maze, and feel the chills go down your spine during spooky story time. Then, you can strut your ghoulish stuff in our costume contest for a chance to win prizes in different categories. It’s sure to be a frightfully good time!

Who would enjoy this program? Families with children of all ages
Price: $5/members, $10/non-members, $7/Girl Scouts with ID, free for children younger than age 3

SPOOKY Science Workshop at Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds

Next is the SPOOKY Science Workshop at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds on October 15th. This is a drop-off event that lasts from 9:30-am until 3:30pm. You will spend the day performing experiements, just like a mad scientist! Costumes are encouraged and lunch is provided

Who would enjoy this program? Youth in grades 3-5

STEAM After Dark at kidscommons in Columbus

Then we have STEAM After Dark at kidscommons on October 18th. The theme for this event is “Weird Science.” This is a drop-off event that lasts from 5pm-8pm. You are invited to join museum staff for an exciting evening of science and art! This three hour event will introduce children to STEAM concepts, giving them time to explore the museum after-hours and providing parents a night out, while we share science, technology, engineering, art and math with kids through fun, hands-on activities and experiments! Pizza will be provided, so please inform staff of any dietary restrictions ahead of time.

Who would enjoy this program? Youth ages 5-12
