There’s a new neighborhood adventure popping up around Indianapolis, and it’s quickly becoming one of our favorite family activities. Trinket trading boxes are like Little Free Libraries, but instead of books, they’re filled with tiny treasures waiting to be discovered. The idea is simple: take a trinket, leave a trinket, and enjoy the surprise of finding something new.
What makes these little boxes so much fun is that they turn an ordinary walk or errand into a treasure hunt. Kids love searching for stickers, friendship bracelets, mini figures, painted rocks, and other small surprises, while parents love having a free, screen-free activity that gets everyone outside and exploring the community.
Thanks to my teen’s enthusiasm for trinket hunting, we’ve spent the last few weeks tracking down boxes all over Indianapolis, and now we’re sharing where to find them, what to bring, and why this growing trend is bringing a little extra joy to neighborhoods across Central Indiana.
