Whiskey Ice Cream at the Whistle Stop #IndyWITHOUTKids

My husband and I were itching for a date – but not just any date. We have our favorite spots for dinner, entertainment, and quiet walks. Being an Indianapolis native, I can spout off a variety of places to dine and play for a date night. I decided to start digging and try to find something we hadn’t discovered yet. A place that offers something we haven’t eaten before. When I stumbled upon the Whistle Stop, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for. Not only do they have fantastic classic bar food, but they serve whiskey infused ice cream, made in house from scratch. Yes, you read that right, boozy ice cream! I knew we had found our next date night.

Convenient Location Near Lucas Oil Stadium

There is street parking in front of the restaurant, as well as parking garages nearby. The Whistle Stop is very conveniently located, just a block from Lucas Oil Stadium and only a 10 minute walk from The Arts Garden and Monument Circle. We went shopping, and then walked over to The Whistle Stop to try their food and the star of the show – whiskey infused ice cream.

When we got inside, it had a fun, adult feel to it. Lots of different décor with fun signs and sayings hang around the walls. There is bar seating when you first walk in, and then an additional dining section on the other side of the restaurant. It’s a small place, but it has a cozy and friendly atmosphere. There are TV’s scattered throughout the restaurant featuring different sports events. We were immediately greeted by the wait staff.

Boozy Ice Cream is a Delicious Date Night Treat

We were so excited to try the ice cream, we ordered it first! On our visit, the weekly flavors were peach and salted caramel ice cream. Whiskey infused flavors offered change every Sunday, and new bourbon infused flavors hit the menu on Mondays. For $10, you get a bowl of boozy ice cream loaded with toppings, such as candy, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. The waffle bowl the ice cream is served in was sturdy, and so yummy. I was able to pick it up after a few bites and eat it with just my hands.

The ice cream was truly incredible. The flavor of the whiskey perfectly blended with the peach and caramel flavors. My husband and I couldn’t believe how good it was! I am not a huge whiskey person by nature, and I really couldn’t believe how smooth and delicious the flavors were. I preferred the caramel, and loved the caramel candies on top. Even if you are not a whiskey person, you should give this ice cream a try.

Comfort Food with a Game Day Atmosphere

If boozy ice cream wasn’t enough reason to visit, the Whistle Stop has one of the most expansive whiskey selections in town, in addition to a fully stocked bar. The appetizers, which we ordered after dessert, were excellent. I loved the fried pizza rolls. All the food was well made, fresh, and hot. This is the perfect place to visit before a Colts or Pacers game. The restaurant is walking distance to both venues, as well as Circle Center Mall.

The hours of operation are Monday- Thursday, 11 am- 2am, Friday-Saturday, 11 am- 3am, and closed on Sundays. However, they are open for all Sunday Colts home games. With the big light up Colts horseshoe in the front window, you can expect a fun game day atmosphere when you stop at The Whistle Stop before the Colts home games.

Whether you are looking for a girls night out, a new date spot, or a place to stop before the game, look no further than The Whistle Stop. This small and quaint venue has a modest exterior, but packs in big flavors and great food and drinks. The warm and friendly staff will make you feel like a regular on your first visit. We can’t wait to stop in for ice cream and a drink again soon.
