Archery Tag and Other Fun at Crown Haven Center

A short one hour drive north of Indianapolis, there’s an up and coming, but ready for you now recreation center that celebrates fun and games in a way that no one else near Indy really does. Crown Haven Center in Kokomo is an event center that plays host to everything from weddings to horseback riding to children’s birthday parties.

Horseback Riding at Crown Haven

The first thing you’ll notice as you arrive at Crown Haven are the horse arenas and the gorgeous animals in the fields. As you park your car, you’ll be greeted by a menagerie of creatures; horse will stick their heads out to see you, a dog will wag its tail and bark in greeting and a goat may bleat a welcome.

Crown Haven offers horseback riding lessons, horse rentals and pony parties. Guests can rent the facility for a pony party in the indoor arena, which includes use of a party room or ponies can be invited to attend a party at your location. Every Friday, Crown Haven hosts public pony parties and a petting zoo, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for only $5 per ride.

Archery Tag at Crown Haven Center

My visit to Crown Haven came about because I learned that they had archery tag. Parents are always asking me for ideas for their older children and teens, so when I heard about Archery Tag, I knew I had to check it out.

Archery tag is way less painful, less expensive and less messy than paintball, but is full of adrenaline highs, laughter and friendly competition. Padded arrows flew through the air as we engaged in a friendly battle that reminded me of a cross between capture the flag and dodgeball. The end of the arrows is a padded cushion that looks and feels a bit like a marshmallow.

Archery tag takes place in the indoor arena at Crown Haven and is really best for kids age 10 and up. Teens are the perfect age to manage the bow and arrows. Gather a group of friends and rent this space for a fun event.

Military Vehicle Rides

Climb aboard the Crown Haven US Army M923 A2 military transport vehicle and take a ride on the hilly terrain as you look for wildlife and enjoy the view of the fields, trees and flowers at Crown Haven. My kids loved this ride, especially as we were crossing the stream and climbing the hill. We spotted birds and squirrels but kept our eyes peeled for other wildlife. Every single one of my kiddos enjoyed this ride (ages 2, 4, 6, & 8). Military vehicle rides tickets are available by appointment and cost $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Watch for fun themed rides, especially around Halloween!
