Neighborhood Toy Store Day: Shop Toys, Shop Local in Indy

Neighborhood Toy Store Day takes place every November, but we love these independent toy stores every day! Kick off your holiday shopping and support local businesses by checking out these fun Indy-area locations. You’ll find a lot of our Toy of the Year award winners and recommendations at these stores.

It’s hard to know where to shop for babies and kids in Indianapolis, but we’ve got you covered.

Neighborhood Toy Stores

4 Kids Books and Toys

4450 Weston Pointe Dr., Zionsville

Part book store, part toy shop, this Zionsville mainstay focuses on quality toys for all ages as well as a selection of favorite books. The knowledgeable staff provides shopping assistance as well birthday party and event planning.

Kits & Kaboodle Classic Toys

2442 E. 146th St., Carmel

Kits & Kaboodle Classic Toys specializes in open ended and child focused toys. They purposefully stock products made with the highest quality child safe materials as well as a focus on caring for the environment.

Kids Ink Children’s Bookstore

5619 North Illinois Street, Indianapolis

Kids Ink Children’s Bookstore is a really cool hidden gem in the Rocky Ripple neighborhood.  This bookstore has a great selection of children’s books as well as Playmobil toys and more!  This store is located right next to the Flying Cupcake Bakery and down the block from Starbucks.  Make an afternoon of your visit and grab some cupcakes and coffee while you are out.

Mass Ave Toys

1057 East 54th Street Studio J, Indianapolis

Mass Ave Toys recently moved to a new location at 54th and Monon Shops.  This toy store is a great place to find a wide range of educational and imaginative toys as well as hard to find selections.  They even offer the cult favorite, Grimms Building Blocks, made in Germany.  Mass Ave Toys also has a party room attached that can be rented out for birthday parties, baby showers, or anything you can imagine.

The Toy Pit

9402 Uptown Dr. Suite 700, Indianapolis

The Toy Pit has an awesome mix of toys for kids as well as inventory for collectors.  This store offers buy, sell, and trade options on a wide variety of inventory.  If you have a collector in the family or are searching for something really cool, visit the Toy Pit.

Toodleydoo Toys 

1 W Jefferson St, Franklin

Formerly the Imagination Station, Toodleydoo Toys offers a fun place to shop with lots of hands-on displays and sales people who consider themselves toy and play experts. This shop also offers a selection of classes and party options in their attached classroom.

Toys Forever

300 South Walnut, Munice

Toys Forever is a full service hobby shop specializing trains, RC, scale model building and so much more.  This store also sells educational and fun games for the whole family.  They feature a variety of Melissa & Doug toys, puzzles, and more.  Make the short drive up to Muncie to see all this store has to offer.

Something a Little Different

Line + Form Art Center: Retail

902 East 17th Street, Indianapolis

The awesome Line + Form Art Center has recently launched a small retail venture.  Focusing on a tightly curated selection of process art kits and handmade scented playdough, this is a great place to grab a stocking stuffer or cool treat for that arty kid in your life.
