Lucas Oil Stadium Tour | Kids Can See Where the Colts Play

We took the Lucas Oil Stadium Tour because my kids are curious about everything, and the chance to explore a giant NFL stadium was too cool to pass up. They had a blast walking on the field, pretending to call plays from the press box, and checking out the Colts locker room like real players. It felt like a VIP adventure, and they haven’t stopped talking about it since!

What’s the Big Deal About Lucas Oil Stadium?

For Colts fans, Lucas Oil Stadium is where the big game happens, but did you know there’s a cool behind-the-scenes adventure where kids can explore one of the NFL’s premier stadiums? Whether your crew is football-obsessed or just loves big, exciting places, this tour offers a fun and memorable glimpse into what happens beyond game day.

History and Background of the Stadium

Opened in 2008, Lucas Oil Stadium quickly became a centerpiece of downtown Indianapolis sports and entertainment. Replacing the former RCA Dome, this state-of-the-art stadium features a retractable roof, massive video boards, and room for over 67,000 fans. It’s hosted everything from Colts games and Final Four championships to concerts and monster truck shows, making it a versatile venue with plenty of star power.

Lucas Oil Stadium Tour Information and Pricing

Public tours are offered year-round and last about an hour, making them just the right length for kids. Led by knowledgeable guides (like my father-in-law, say “Hi” to Jim while you’re there), these tours are both entertaining and informative.

Pricing is $20 per adult person, with reduced rates for children (currently $15 for ages 4-12 and free for kids 3 years and under), seniors, and groups. Advance registration is recommended, and tour times may vary based on the stadium’s event schedule. We were able to use our stroller throughout the entire tour.

Highlights of the Lucas Oil Stadium Tour

Visitors can walk right out onto the field, see the view from the press box, visit the locker rooms, and explore the suites like VIPs. It’s a chance to step into places that are usually off-limits to the public and experience the stadium from all angles. With great photo opportunities at nearly every stop, families will walk away with both fun memories and share-worthy snapshots.
