Free Indoor Play on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Play hours currently are every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am-Noon. This is a totally free community resource for all families, not just Cornerstone’s regular attendees. You will find a large gymnasium packed with different activities for your children when you enter.

The church provides a variety of play equipment for you to enjoy during this open gym time. On a stage is a great wooden playset, complete with ladders, a slide, and a climbing structure. Kids can also use gross motor skills while designing with foam building materials. If they can dream it, they can create it!

Several sensory activities are scattered throughout the gym. Climb through one of the pop-up tunnels, or balance on stepping stones and bridges while trying not to fall! Grab a friend and play on the wooden teeter-totter, or try to balance on the dome swiveling seats. My sensory-seeking kiddo had so much fun with this equipment.

Play Using Gross and Fine Motor Skills

Your kids will love the gymnastics mat where they can tumble and play. There are also several ride-on toys, including push cars, small bicycles, and sit-and-scoot toys. The gymnasium provides plenty of room for children to roll around and get those wiggles out, no matter the weather outside.

You will also find fine motor activities and pretend play opportunities, such as a play kitchen, an interactive play rug with cars, and a pretend workbench. Cook, build, or drive with these engaging and imaginative toys. This is a great space for your children to meet other kids and interact through fun activities.

Welcoming Environment for Parents and Children

If you have a small toddler, there are plenty of options available for that age group. A large sensory cube, a rocking horse, and a bouncing horse are just a few of the toys Cornerstone Lutheran Church Indianapolis has made available to the littlest friends. There are bathrooms available right next to the gym, for quick and easy access for those little ones who might be newly potty trained. Parents and families are also welcome to bring drinks and snacks to enjoy while visiting the play area.

Overall, Cornerstone’s play space is geared toward younger children. We brought our 3,5, and 7 year old and they all enjoyed playing so much that they didn’t want to leave! The staff at the Church was so friendly, and they had children’s music playing, which the kids loved.

Support Cornerstone Lutheran Church Indianapolis with a Food Donation

When you visit Cornerstone Lutheran Church Indianapolis with your little ones, consider bringing a non-perishable food item to donate to the church. They regularly assist those in the community faced with food insecurity. Individually packaged items that are easy to open are ideal, such as containers of peanut butter, chips, applesauce, or raisins. They are very thankful for the support in helping serve those who might stop by for assistance each day. Canned items, specifically proteins, are appreciated and most needed! There is no obligation to bring a food item, but if you have something to offer, you can give your donations to the staff at the door when you arrive.
