Where can you go ice skating in Indianapolis? We know and we’re so excited to add a second Hamilton County outdoor ice rink to our list of family ice skating hot spots. Federal Hill Commons, one of the newest urban parks in Indiana made quite the splash this summer with a fantastic schedule of amazing family friendly experiences. Now you can go ice skating in their outdoor Ice Plaza.
The Ice Plaza will be open daily (except Christmas Day) beginning on November 24th and ending on January 8th. This temporary ice rink helps with the goal of providing outdoor recreation opportunities for Indy area residents throughout the winter months when locals tend to head indoors for the season.
Admission is $12 per person. Skating aids are available for children who need a little extra help learning how to skate. Ice skating rentals are included in the price of admission and children’s sizes are available. If you own your own ice skates, you are welcome to bring them to use.
TIP: Purchase your $12 tickets in advance online so you can skip the line (no discounts available with online purchases.)
Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more at a $10 per person fee. Discounts are also available if you participate in the themed nights on Fridays.
Concessions are available for sale and food trucks will be on site on Fridays and Saturdays, 5pm-9pm.
TIP: Your admission is for the entire day. If you choose to leave to grab food or run errands or do some holiday shopping, you can still return and resume skating!
From November 24 through December 24, Ice Plaza hours will be 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday. After Christmas, hours will be extended for enjoyment during winter break. It will open daily at 11 a.m. and will close at 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and at 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The rink will close early at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
