Free Indoor Playground at Fishers Community Center + Free Indoor Track

You know that feeling when you walk into a space that feels instantly welcoming?  You know, the kind of welcoming place where your kids take off toward adventure, and you can finally take a deep breath? That’s exactly what it felt like when I stepped inside the brand-new Fishers Community Center for the first time. We’d been watching the construction for months, talking about what it would be like, and when those doors finally opened, I knew we had found something that families who live near Fishers would be so excited about. There’s another fun activity to add to our list of fun things to do in Fishers.

As a mom of four, I’ve been to my fair share of indoor play areas, gyms, and “community” spaces, but this free indoor playground? It’s bright, modern, and absolutely designed with families in mind, not just athletes or adults with memberships, but the everyday families who want somewhere to belong.

What makes this place even more special is that a significant portion of it is completely free to enjoy. You don’t need a paid membership, you don’t need to be a Fishers resident, and you don’t even need to pack a ton of cash. You just show up, with your kids, your stroller, your coffee, or your sneakers, and you belong here.

Free Indoor Playground at Fishers Community Center

When you first walk in, your kids will be instantly drawn to the giant indoor playground. It’s impossible to miss; a 5,300-square-foot wonderland that looks like a mix between a jungle gym and a modern art sculpture. It’s tall enough to feel like an adventure for older ones, but safe and accessible enough for littles to join in without me worrying. You’ll watch your kids climb, crawl, and laugh their way across bridges and slides while you sit at a nearby table, sipping coffee from the onsite Sahm’s Community Café and chatting with another mom who had the same wide-eyed “Can you believe this is free?” expression. The playground was created for kids aged 12 and under, and you’ll get to start using it beginning on November 1st with your free community pass.

There’s even a special space just for littles. It’s colorful and fun!

Free Indoor Track at Fishers Community Center

Let’s talk about the free indoor track at the Fishers Community Center. The track loops above the gym floor and welcomes anyone age 11 and up to take a stroll. Strollers are not permitted, but babywearing is okay. Children age 12 and under must be attended to by their parents at all times, and kids under the age of 11 may not be on the track at all.

Free Community Rooms and Meeting Spaces

One thing I think so many people are going to love is the community rooms and indoor meeting spaces. These rooms are beautiful; bright, open, and designed for every kind of get-together. Think birthday parties, community groups hosting workshops, and planning nights. They’re perfect for everything from homeschool meetups to baby showers or scout meetings. If you’d like to use one, submit a request; it’s free!

Another free gathering area is Sahm’s Community Cafe.  I’ve already decided this will be my go-to “let’s meet up” spot for playdates, mom chats, in Fishers. Food and beverages are available for a fee, but the seating area and the wifi area are free and open to the public, plus they’re right next to the playground.

And here’s the best part: everything I just described is free. The playground, the track, the gathering spaces, and the café seating area are all open to the public. No paid membership card required, no secret code at the door, no guilt if you can only stay for an hour between errands. Just open doors and open spaces.

Fishers Community Center

I know what you’re thinking, “there must be a catch.” But truly, there isn’t. Fishers Community Center was designed to be a true community hub. It’s part of the city’s mission to encourage healthy living, social connection, and inclusive recreation. The membership options are there if you want more (like the fitness center, aquatics area, or gym courts), but families like mine can get plenty of joy from the free areas alone.

Before you go, make sure to visit fisherscommunitycenter.com and sign up for your free community pass. It only takes a few minutes to register your family, and once you’ve created your account, you’ll have instant access to all the free amenities inside the center beginning on November 1st. After that, download the Fishers Community Center app. This is where you’ll reserve your family’s playtime on the indoor playground (up to two hours each day). Reservations help keep the space comfortable and safe for everyone, and they guarantee your spot to play, even on the busiest days. It’s quick, easy, and totally worth it before you load the kids in the car!

Here’s what’s available for free to every visitor, every day:

A massive indoor playground with separate areas for toddlers and older kids

An elevated indoor walking and running track that welcomes families and strollers

Community gathering spaces with comfortable seating and open tables

Sahm’s Community Café area for coffee, snacks, and conversation (food/beverage available for purchase)
