Minecraft: The Exhibition is a fascinating new exhibit at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis that explores the world of Minecraft. The exhibit is a unique and interactive experience that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Minecraft and learn about the game’s history, its impact on popular culture, and the many ways it can be used as a learning tool.

The Minecraft exhibit is open to the public beginning March 11, 2023, and is included in the price of admission or membership to The Children’s Museum. Families eligible for the Access Pass can visit the entire museum for just $2 per person. There are also a number of free admission days to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and reduced admission evenings.

Your whole family will love participating in a variety of hands-on activities including building your own virtual world, learning about the different game modes and characters, and even exploring a giant Minecraft world that has been recreated within the museum.

One of the most impressive aspects of the exhibit is the recreation of a Minecraft world in the museum. The world is made up of blocks, just like in the game, and is a massive 6,000 square feet. Visitors can walk through the world and explore the different areas, which include forests, caves, and mountains. The attention to detail in the world is impressive, and it’s easy to forget that you’re not actually inside the game.

Minecraft Fans AND Newbs Love the Minecraft Museum Exhibit

Even the most uninformed Minecraft visitor will have a great appreciation for the game after visiting. If Minecraft is just something your kids have told you about, don’t worry — you’ll be a Minecraft expert after visiting this Minecraft museum exhibit. Get to know different characters in the game, such as Steve, Alex, and the Ender Dragon when you encounter their lifesize counterparts. Learn about the different game modes, including survival mode and creative mode as you take your turn on one of the many gaming stations.

There’s a big focus on how Minecraft can be used as a learning tool. The exhibit highlights how educators use Minecraft in the classroom to teach everything from history and geography to coding and math to problem-solving and collaboration. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of Minecraft Homeschool programs from The Children’s Museum.

The section on the history of Minecraft and its impact on popular culture is very interesting. Minecraft was created in 2009 by Markus “Notch” Persson and quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. The game has sold over 200 million copies, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time. Minecraft has also had a significant impact on popular culture, inspiring everything from clothing lines to fan conventions.

The museum is committed to providing a safe and accessible experience for all, and staff members are available to answer any questions or concerns visitors may have. You’ll notice these elements in the Minecraft exhibit.

Pixel8 Pop-up in the Gift Shop

The Store at The Children’s Museum is a popular place for guests to shop for birthday gifts and souvenirs. There are many educational and fun toys and games available for purchase. During special exhibits, The Children’s Museum often hosts a pop-up shop within the gift shop. The Minecraft pop-up is called the Pixel8 Shop and it is crammed full of Minecraft-themed toys, games, gifts, and swag.

Shoppers can find their favorite Minecraft character stuffies, Minecraft LEGO build kits, Minecraft story books, picture books and coloring books, clothing, and other fun games. The most popular item we saw purchased during our visit was a Minecraft pixelated sword for just over $10.

Visiting The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

One thing to keep in mind when visiting the exhibit is that it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. Save money on tickets by purchasing your tickets in advance. Be prepared to wait in line for some of the interactive stations, and be patient if you’re unable to explore everything in the exhibit in one visit. Minecraft: The Exhibition will be at The Children’s Museum through August 6, 2023.
