Mochi Joy Donuts | First of Its Kind Donut Shop in Noblesville

There’s a new donut in town! Mochi Joy Donuts is taking Indy by storm and for good reason. Inside the Veterans of Foreign Wars building in Noblesville, you will find the very first mochi donut shop in the Indianapolis area.

Mochi donuts have Japanese and Hawaiian origins, and are less sweet than traditional donuts. These donuts are unique in look, flavor, and texture. Mochi donuts are a hybrid between a cake donut and chewy Mochi, and are made with rice flour and tapioca flour. They are fluffy and chewy on the inside, yet crispy on the outside. The flavor is unique and so delicious.

A Different Kind of Donut

Not only do these unique donuts taste different, they look different! The special flower shape stands out, and instantly tells you it is a mochi donut. The balls of dough together form a beautiful donut that is almost too pretty to eat.

Tom and Rachel Nyugen left their jobs to become small business owners and pursue their dream of opening up a Mochi donut shop in the Indianapolis area. They have been overwhelmed by the success and popularity of these unique and tasty donuts. We arrived at the shop before they opened and there was already a line of anxious customers waiting to get a box of donuts. They have sold out every day since they opened, sometimes in as little as 10 minutes!

Good Luck Picking a Flavor!

Mochi Joy Donuts is open Monday9-Friday from 10:30 am-4 pm. They open with a big batch of donuts and make more throughout the day. There is a wide variety of flavors offered, and they change daily. Some of the fun flavors you might find are churro, fruity pebbles, peanut butter and jelly, and Nutella!

Mochi donuts tend to have more tropical flavor options, which is another distinctive thing about them. The rich cultural ties to this delicious treat make them all the more special. You are sure to find a flavor you love regardless of which day you visit. If you can’t make it to the store, Mochi Joy’s website lists the daily flavors by date each week—plan which day you want to visit for your favorite flavor. They also offer a handy online ordering option, as well as a delivery option.

Mochi Joy is a Hit with Kids

Your kids will love the unique shape and taste of the Mochi Joy Donuts. My daughter tried the Taro Unicorn donut when we visited, and it was a big hit. It was beautiful, with bright purple icing and unicorn sprinkles on top. Taro is a starchy root vegetable that is sweet with a hint of vanilla, and often used in Asian cuisine. I love that I have the opportunity to introduce my children to new foods and cultures, right here in the Indianapolis area. Personally, I loved the glazed and mango flavors!

Find Mochi Joy at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building at 654 S 9th Street in Noblesville. If you are looking for a unique small business to support, look no further than Mochi Joy Donuts. This donut shop is everything Indianapolis has been waiting for, and is definitely worth a trip to grab a box for you and your family.
