Birrieria Iturbidense – Indianapolis

6302 W Washington Street, Indianapolis

Expect long lines when you visit this popular food truck! Specializing in Mexican birria, the truck serves up the delicious meat in taco form, but you can also get your birria in a quessedilla, on a hot dog, or even in a bowl of ramen. Birrieria Iturbidense is typically found on Washington Street near the Indianapolis International Airport.

Chris’ Ice Cream – Indianapolis

1484 E 86th St, Indianapolis

Don’t let the name fool you. While Chris’ does serve up some fantastic house-made ice cream — including both familiar and unexpected flavors like Pistachio, White Russian, Guava, and an Oreo ice cream that tastes JUST like the chocolate cookies — this shop is also one of the best places to grab tacos in Indy. Recently ranking #37 in Yelps’ list of “Top 100 Places to Eat in the Midwest,” Chris’ Ice Cream offers a full menu of enchiladas, sopes, torta sandwiches, and quessedillas, in addition to classic street tacos. If you come at lunch time, the place will likely be busy, but your wait will be well worth it!

Condado Tacos – Multiple Locations

Originally hailing from Columbus Ohio, Condado now has four Indy-area locations. Find them in Carmel, Noblesville, Broad Ripple, and on Mass Ave. Each location is full of funky artwork tailored to the surrounding area. When you order your tacos, you have the option to build your own or select from an extensive list of pre-designed options, which range from traditional to imaginative (think Korean BBQ or tacos with Thai inspiration). Order the kids a “Small Bud” taco with simple fillings like cheese and beef or chicken.

La Chinita Poblana – Indianapolis

906 Carrollton Ave, Indianapolis

The Food Network ranked this delicious spot’s Skirt Steak Taco as the state of Indiana’s tastiest taco. You can find La Chinita Poblana’s fusion tacos at The Garage Food Hall in the Bottleworks District off Mass Ave. What could be better than following up your Taco Tuesday dinner with some old-fashioned pinball or duckpin bowling at Pins Mechanical next door?

La Margarita – Fountain Square & Carmel

The flagship location is in historic Fountain Square just off the Cultural Trail. This is one of our favorites during warmer months for outdoor family dining! You can even bring your dog along if you plan to eat on the patio. You can also find La Margarita inside Carmel’s Sun King Spirits at Midtown Plaza. 

Moe’s Southwest Grill – Multiple Locations

This Tex-Mex chain restaurant known for its quirkily-named menu items has several locations around the greater Indianapolis area. Pupuseria Casa Maria – Indianapolis

This Salvadorian and Mexican restaurant on the northwest side serves up some amazing street tacos! The pupusa menu is also extensive and kids and adults alike will love the cinnamon sugar churros as a dessert!

Roscoe’s Tacos – Greenwood

You can’t go wrong with any of the uniquely named tacos ranging from the Tesla to the Paul Bunyan. Make sure to try out their six distinctive sauces too!

Social Cantina – Carmel and Indianapolis
