Fourth of July Fun can be found everywhere in and around Indy. Below are only SOME of the offerings.
Feeling festive a little early this year? Check out the Fishers Freedom Festival and register your little one for the Children’s Parade on June 28th. Have your child decorate their bicycle, tricycle, big wheel, or stroller. The three “most patriotic” vehicles will win a special prize, but everyone walks away with a goody bag of some kind. (The Children’s Parade requires ADVANCED registration.) The parade is at 9:00am, but don’t go home after that. Go watch some of the world’s best Frisbee-catching canines qualify for the AWI World Finals. In the evening, there will be fireworks at Holland Park
On the Fourth, start your day off with the Firecracker 6, a six mile run through Downtown Indianapolis. Registration spots are still available for this stroller friendly race! Prices range from $29 to $40 per participant. At the end of the race, there is a live band and a ‘selfie zone’ complete with props for all your social media needs!
Head up north to CarmelFest on July 3rd and 4th. There are activities including a KidZone with rides, games, and a petting zoo. There are plenty of activities both days including parades, live music, and a talent competition. The fireworks start at 9:45pm and are synced up to WHJE 91.3 FM. There are plenty of places to get a good view of the fireworks in the beautiful city of Carmel.
Want to rock out with your family? Check out the INDYpendence Day StreetFest on Georgia Street from 2:00p to 10:00p in Downtown Indianapolis. Admission is $20 per person, but children ages 6 and under are FREE! Check out some cool bands at the all day long Concert for Cancer with headliner Panic! At The Disco. Money goes not only to pay for your awesome time, but also goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as the St. Francis Hospital Patient Assistance Fund.
If you are feeling more traditional this year, head downtown for our national pastime before celebrating the birth of our nation. The Indianapolis Indians play at 6:05pm at Victory Field, the “Best Minor League Ballpark in America”. All attendees will receive a special rally towel and there will be an auction of the special Stars & Stripes jerseys worn by the players that night to benefit the Indiana National Guard Relief Fund. The best part about attending this game is that you get to watch two fireworks shows from the comfort of your seat. The Indians will launch their own fireworks after the game prior to the start of the downtown fireworks. At 10:00pm, Donatos Downtown Freedom Blast will begin from the top of the Regions tower and you will have the best seat in the house.
These are only a few of the awesome offerings Indy has for Fourth of July fun. Where will you celebrate?
