The new sport and target archery center at Strawtown Koteewi Park was a great discovery for us. When Hamilton County told us that it would be a special treat for Central Indiana families, we just had to try it out.
Tony Grind and his staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. While this activity is best suited for children who are 6-8 years old and up, they were so kind to work with our group of young children (age 3 and up). Everyone had a great time and our littles were mustering their inner princess Merida from Brave.
Dress for the weather and call ahead to confirm hours and times that the range is available. This beautiful facility is open year round and is handicapped accessible. The ranges are built to Olympic specifications and with nearly 100 shooting stations of varied distance, you’ll find a challenge at the end of every arrow. We even heard a rumor of an indoor range in the future.
Visitors will love the giant retail show room/pro shop, party room and indoor bathrooms (available in June). Later summer, families will get to enjoy outdoor picnic tables.
See the Koteewi Website for up to date pricing on range times and lessons.
Directions from the south: Take SR 37 North, then left on Essig Ave/Koteewi Dr. (immediately after Strawtown Auction) to the park property on west side of road. Turn left on a gravel drive, visitors will take a long, gravel driveway West to the Archery Range.
During the winter months, check out the Koteewi Slopes snow tubing!
