Snap a Photo with the Daniel’s Vineyard Pickup Truck
If you have been to Daniel’s Vineyard, you know the scenery is picturesque. They even have an old pickup truck for the perfect photo op! If you don’t have a truck of your own, you can still grab a great summer picture in front of theirs. While you are at Daniel’s, stay for the live music happening all weekend long. Music on Saturday is at 1 pm and 6 pm. On Sundays, you can add some bottomless mimosas to your day to make brunch a little more romantic.
Tailgate at Your Favorite Sporting Event
Indiana is full of sporting events, especially ones where you can tailgate. Hit up an Indianapolis Colts game or an Indy Eleven soccer match and plan a fun tailgating time beforehand. Bring along a cooler with drinks and snacks. Challenge your date to make the best tailgating snack and try out both to see who is the winner. Pack some fun yard games, a few chairs, and even a Bluetooth speaker to create the perfect atmosphere.
Pickup Truck Dates at a State Park
Indiana is filled with great state parks. You need to make time to visit! There are so many places with lovely views. Put a new spin on the normal picnic at the park and spread out your blanket in the truck bed. You will be up off the ground preventing creepy crawlies from helping themselves to your food and you’ll have a more elevated view of your surroundings. Line the sides of the truck bed with pillows so you have something comfy to lean against. This also gives you a nice place to rest after a long hike!
A Nostalgic Evening at the Drive-In Movies
The truck bed of a pickup is the perfect size to put an inflatable mattress, making this the coziest place to watch movies at the drive-in. Make sure to pack some pillows and blankets. We love that you can pack all of your own snacks and drinks. If you plan to eat dinner there, bring along a small fold-out card table and chairs to create your own dining space. You can also buy plenty of nostalgic concessions from the snack stand as well. We love going to the Tibbs Drive-In Movie Theater.
Stargazing with Your Sweetie
A night out under the stars! Is there anything more romantic? Get away from the big city lights with a drive out to the country and stay past sunset to enjoy an amazing view of the night sky. Download a stargazing app on your phone so that you can scan the sky and learn which constellations you are seeing. If you have a telescope, bring that along as well to get a better glimpse! Lay out some blankets and pillows so you can lie down comfortably to see the stars. Plan to go when there are meteorological events occurring like a meteor shower or aligned planets.
Outdoor Movies at Your House
If you have a projector, you can create a drive-in movie right in your own driveway or backyard. Back up your truck right in front of the screen and you have the best view of all your favorite films. If you have a fire pit, make some smores. You can also make all of your own movie concession favorites right at home to add to the experience. Being able to relax in the truck bed will be so much more enjoyable than just sitting in a normal camping chair.
Fishing and BBQ
Do you like to go fishing? Indiana has lots of nice lakes and rivers to try out. Fishing is a fantastic way to get away from the stress of daily life. Escape from it all with a calm and peaceful day or evening fishing. This is also a great opportunity to teach your date a new skill if they have never been fishing. Remember that you will need an Indiana Fishing License. You can also go fishing on one of Indiana’s free fishing days that take place four times a year. If you bring along a small charcoal grill, you can even serve up a BBQ to reward yourself after a long day of waiting for the fish to bite.
Hot Tub or Swimming Pool Truck Bed
Yes! You can turn the truck bed into a hot tub or an ice-cold pool if you want! There are tons of DIY tutorials out there to help you get started. You can also get an aftermarket fitted tarp that can line your truck bed to make it watertight. Try making a hot tub on a cooler night or filling it up with cold water for those hot summer days. The best part? You can transport your pool to whatever location you choose.
Camp Out
If you love camping, try camping out in the back of your truck. This is a unique way to spend some extra time outdoors. There are so many options when it comes to buying tents that fit onto the truck bed. You can even find some that have a tent on the ground that connects to a tent covering the truck bed for dedicated sleeping quarters. This is ideal to help keep you off the ground and dry! Plan some fun meals to cook over the fire, go on some hikes, and simply enjoy each other’s company out in the beauty of nature.

Maybe you don’t have enough time to go away for the weekend and you don’t want to buy any extra equipment. That is totally fine!
