Where to Celebrate Galentine’s Day in Indianapolis

Galentine’s Day festivities are gaining popularity in Indianapolis and we’re not sad. It’s true that Galentine’s Day is a made up holiday that came from one of my favorite shows, Parks & Rec. However, if you’re a woman who just needs a few hours away from the house in the company of other adult women, Galentine’s Day is a very necessary holiday. It’s the day we remember that we once had a connection with friends, a connection that didn’t center around conversations about potty training, PTO drama and carpool…or maybe it did.

Best Places for Galentine’s Day

Here are a whole bunch of places that we like to celebrate Galentine’s Day in Indy with our girlfriends.

The Theatre

Indianapolis is full of fantastic live theatre venues with amazing actors and shows. Typically we love hitting up great “girlfriend” type shows, but during COVID, most theaters are taking a hiatus

If your friends are in to seeing something in the movie theater that isn’t about princesses and snowmen, we recommend Flix Brewhouse and Studio Movie Grill. You’ll have access to beer, wine and tasty food while you relax and enjoy a movie of your choice and only take a bathroom break if it’s for you.

Making Stuff

The crafting and DIY home decor craze has swept in to Indianapolis in a big way. With so many options of places to go make things, your little crafting heart will be satisfied. You’ll love making your own candles at Penn & Beech, painting pottery at any number of places, creating wooden masterpieces at Board and Brush and even floral arranging!

A Rich Lunch or Dinner

If the Cake Bake Shop has been on your must-do list for a while, there’s no better time to grab your gal pals and treat yourselves to a famous slice of cake. There are also wonderful soups and salads and sandwiches to round out your meal. If besties, Oprah and Gail were in Indianapolis, we’re certain they’d spend their day here.

Baby’s is one of the newest restaurants to hit our radar and you’ll love it! Broasted chicken, burgers and fries are all menu items we love but the coolest menu items are the boozy milkshakes. There’s even a dairy free option if you need it.

Rosie’s offers popular dishes that will have you and your girlfriends wishing every day was Galentine’s Day! Try the cinnamon roll, a tasty mimosa and take home some Gooey Butter cookies for your loves.

Stay at Home

The cool and undecidedly snowy weather has a many of us wanting to stay at home. Host a boozy waffle brunch, Leslie Knope style without even leaving the house! My friend Ericka is a boss at throwing a beautiful party. A simple mimosa bar and waffles with all of the toppings compliment each other well. If you want to get really fancy, order cookies from Blooming Bakes, grab some bouquets for your guests from Blooms by Wildwood, pick up a Macaron Bar pyramid and set up a stunning backdrop with the help of  Silkscapes Indy. Or, just keep it casual with a glass of wine and some cheese.

Chocolate is Best

DeBrand Fine Chocolates is not only home to one of the best places to get hot cocoa in Indy, but they have amazing chocolate creations and the BEST ice cream concoctions you’ll ever taste! This seems like the perfect place to enjoy a day of decadence with your friends.
Nosh Dessert Parlour in Martinsville has us oohing & ahhing over their gorgeous bakery treats. Grab something pretty to surprise a friend.

Winery but Don’t Whine

There are some pretty amazing wineries right here in Central Indiana. You can make a day of it or just stop in to one. Urban Vines Winery in Westfield has heated outdoor igloos available for rent. Their delicious wines and incredible charcuterie options will make you wan to stay put for hours.
Olivery Winery is a quick drive south of Indianapolis. Oliver offers tours of their winery, an amazing tasting room experience and if it warms up, their patio is a great place to relax.

Relax

We’re all for getting a couples massage with anyone you love, even your best friend. Check out Massage Heights for some great deals.
Galentine’s Day is a great time to try out something new and pamper yourself. Have you heard of a salt cave? My group of friends visited a salt cave and it was interesting.
What is your favorite way to celebrate Galentine’s Day? Have you ever celebrated or will this be your first time?
