My kids LOVE rainbows. We look for them after every storm as the sunshine comes out, we create rainbows with chalk and paint and crayons. Rainbow Places Near Indianapolis
There are so many places to find rainbow-painted things in Indy, these are a few of our favorites. Let me know if I’ve missed your favorite spot.
Rainbow Bridge in Broad Ripple

The Rainbow Bridge in B’rip is a fun spot to watch the canal, meet up with friends and snap a photo. There’s a Duck Race during the summer where they dump hundreds of rubber duckies from the Rainbow Bridge and watch them float to a finish line.
Rainbow Path at Coxhall Gardens
2000 W 116th Street, Carmel, IN
One of the best Indianapolis area parks is Coxhall Gardens. You’ll find these adorable building facades, gorgeous gardens and so many spaces to explore. Coxhall Children’s Garden is also home to an alphabet rainbow path.
Sky Color Rain Art Installation in Batesville
121 Shopping Village Batesville, IN
This gorgeous art piece in Batesville is a continuation of their Basteville Sky series. Last year we enjoyed the rainbow umbrellas that decorated the sky overhead. This year, fringes of color pierce the sky and create a rainbow of delight.
Art on the Indianapolis Canal and White River State Park

There are several permanent art pieces at the Canal and in White River State Park that are colorful and have notes of rainbow flare. Our favorites are The Tent by artist Donald Lipski and Prime Commonality by Quincy Owens and Like Crawley. Prime Commonality is a series of posts that are colorful and lit from the inside. The Tent sculpture is adorned with colorfully painted tags that move in the breeze.
Musical Swings in Lawrence

These playground swings are super special. The colorful seats light up as they are used AND they create music.
The Tie Dye Lab in Avon

Bursts of bright colors grab your attention as you enter the storefront of this creative space. The workstations are different colors of the rainbow and the wearable art you’ll create are in full rainbow mode.
Rainbow Beach Vincennes

The Rainbow Beach Family Aquatic Center in Vincennes is a colorful aqua playground for everyone! Just two hours from Indy, you’ll find tons of fun in this Wabash River Indiana town. Slide down the multicolored water slides, take a nap under the colorful sun sails, and swim in the cool pool.
Rainbow Building Downtown Indy

The Minton-Capeheart Federal Building in downtown Indianapolis bares the artwork of Milton Glaser. This colorful building is a piece of artwork called “Color Fuses” and it’s an ombre delight.
Aerial Silks at Cirque Indy

Take a class at Cirque Indy and learn all kinds of new skills. The silks hang in a rainbow formation and make for a beautiful display during classses.

Indy Pride Parade in Downtown Indianapolis
Every year, the Indianapolis community gathers to celebrate Pride month. There are so many events and activities throughout the month of June, but a fan favorite is the Pride Parade. You’ll probably never see the rainbow represented so heavily and so heartily as you will at the Indy Pride Parade.
Rainbow IndyCar at the Indianapolis 500
Veal’s Ice Tree
Veal’s Ice Tree is an Indianapolis classic. During very cold winter months, a giant ice sculpture is created when the Veal family sprays mists of water on top of a stacked structure. As the tree “grows”, colorful water is added to create a rainbow art installation.
