Summer is starting to wind down, but there is still plenty to do around Indianapolis and Central Indiana. The city is bustling with activities and events all month long, so get a date night on the calendar. Whether you want to relax, try something new, or root for the home team, Indy has you covered!

Daniel’s Vineyard

9061 N 700 W, McCordsville

The vineyard on a summer evening is just a picturesque place to be. Daniel’s Vineyard always plans fun events and promotions throughout the week to add to the experience. Come out on August 25 for the Summer Concert Series featuring the Nauti Yachtys. Different ticket options are available for this lively evening of music. Enjoy the beautiful vineyard while you sip on wine, eat pizza, and dance the night away.

Indiana State Fair

1202 E. 38th St, Indianapolis

The Indiana State Fair runs through August 20 with a plethora of events planned for each day. Head over on a Thursday and enjoy $3 admission, $3 midway rides, and of course, a $3 food offering from each concession stand. Try out some of the new foods offered this year and vote for your favorites for the Taste of the Fair Award. We love the giant Ferris wheel to look out over the entire fair. There are lots of free concerts throughout the duration of the fair as well. Keep in mind that the fairgrounds are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

SoChatti

1125 E. Brookside Ave, Gate 2, Indianapolis

If you are out and about on Mass Ave and looking for a fun dessert to try after a meal, hop on over to SoChatti. It is located in the Circle City Industrial Complex, a hub for local art and other fun activities such as fowling. At SoChatti, you can try their different chocolates in a chocolate-tasting flight, tour the factory, and even make your own drop candies. Special events fill up quickly so make sure to register ahead of time!

Indianapolis Indians Game

501 W. Maryland St, Indianapolis

The Indianapolis Indians know how to put on a show and Victory Field is one of the most beautiful minor league parks around. Each homestand features a series of promotions throughout the week. On Tuesdays, some concessions like popcorn and hot dogs are only $1. Enjoy discounted drinks for Thirsty Thursdays. Cuddle up and watch the fireworks on Friday nights! You will have the beautiful backdrop of the Indianapolis skyline which makes for great pictures. The Indians are in town August 8-13 and August 22-27.

Colts Training Camp

711 E. 191st St, Westfield

The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for the upcoming NFL season with practices and scrimmages held at Grand Park in Westfield. You do need tickets to attend these practices but lucky for you, they are free! Colts Training Camp is so fun and has many promotions, activities, and giveaways, and you might even get an autograph from one of the players. The Colts will be at Grand Park through August 17. On August 16 and 17, the Colts will hold a joint practice with the Chicago Bears. After you attend practice, hit up one of Westfield’s delicious restaurants for a great dinner!

Adults Only Swim Nights

On August 4, both the Waterpark in Carmel and Freedom Springs in Greenwood are hosting their 21-and-over adults-only swim nights. These events allow adults to let loose and bring out their own childlike spirit by jumping in the pool, riding the fast water slides, or just lazing about on the lazy river. Food and drinks are available for purchase including adult beverages from local breweries and wineries. Upgrade your ticket purchase and splurge on a cabana to give you and your date some privacy.

Greekfest 2023

3500 W. 106th St, Carmel

Greekfest will take place on August 25 and 26 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Indianapolis.This will be the 50th year that this festival has taken place. If you have never gone, this is your year! Not only will you be able to indulge in amazing Greek food, but you can also shop vendors, learn traditional dances, and find out more about Greek culture. After you have worked up a sweat dancing, sip on some local wine and savor some of the delectable Greek pastries.

Greenwood Summer Concert Series

100 Surina Way, Greenwood

The Amphitheater in Greenwood is a beautiful venue for live music. The grounds are nicely landscaped and there is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the music. There are two concerts in August. The first is on August 5 with Sounds of Summer performing. You can also grab food from MoBowl and Brozzini’s at this event. The second concert will be on August 12 with My Yellow Rickshaw performing. Smokehouse BBQ will be on-site with food available for purchase. Concerts are always free with food and drink at an additional cost. You can bring your own chairs, blanket, and snacks.

Garfield Park Art & Music Festival

2432 Conservatory Drive, Indianapolis

The Garfield Park Art & Music Festival is a one-day festival that celebrates the art, music, and culture of Indianapolis. This year’s festival will take place on August 12 beginning at 4 pm. Admission to the festival is free and will give you the opportunity to experience the art scene of Indianapolis. Listen to local music and enjoy artists’ booths showcasing and selling local art. Grab dinner from one of the food trucks and enjoy a local brew from Garfield Brewery.

Sunflower Festival at Dollie’s Farm

3961 N 425 E, Franklin

What could be more peaceful than walking through fields of flowers? Dollie’s Farm strives to bring you some serenity and peace in a busy world. Come out to the farm for this free festival on August 26 from 12-4 pm. You can pick sunflowers, listen to live music, do some shopping, and much more! At the end of the event, you can participate in goat yoga! This portion is a ticketed event, so be sure to grab tickets for yoga beforehand.
