We’re always on the look out for new (and old) microbreweries with kid-friendly atmosphere and menus, let us know which Indiana brewery is your favorite to grab a craft beer while you’re out with your children.

{Please remember, don’t drink and drive}

Sun King Brewery with Kids

Local favorite, Sun King Brewery is big on people gathering to enjoy beer AND building community. Sun King recognizes that children are a part of the community, and so are their families, that’s why they have designated all of their brewery locations as family friendly. The brand new Fishers location will open in February! In the meantime, visit their Carmel, Broad Ripple and downtown Indianapolis locations. Kids will love selecting from a variety of food options. Look for the board games to keep everyone entertained.

Four Day Ray Brewery

This colorful brewery is located on the north side of Indy in Fishers. The food is loved by all and the beers are wonderful. We love the seating options, both indoor and outdoor, plus the decor. Kids love the kids menu items, but especially the $1 ice cream with sprinkles. Like other local restaurants, Four Day Ray participates in local restaurant weeks, like Devour Indy.

Mashcraft Brewery

When Mashcraft opened we were so excited to find out they had three family friendly locations: Fishers, Greenwood and Delaware street in Indianapolis! The tater tot basket, the Bavarian pretzels and the churro basket are must-haves for everyone to share. With kid sized menu items that include a drink and a side, everyone is happy. Kids menu includes: Kids Mac & Cheese, Kids Chicken Strips, Kids Cheese Pizza, Kids Size Slider. Mashcraft even has games to keep little hands busy.

Liter House

This local family owned brewpub is family friendly and you’ll be glad, because their beers and food are fantastic! Liter House is well known for their family friendly events and parties, thanks to the genius of midtown’s  favorite mom, Melissa Uhte. The children’s menu is stocked with regular favorites and others with a German twist.

Triton Brewing Company

Triton Brewing Company is located near Fort Benjamin Harrison. We love coming here for a quick beer tasting and pretzel, or for a sit down meal. Triton has an outdoor terrace and space out front; often you’ll find kids outside playing with sidewalk chalk and a bean bag toss set. The beer is one of our favorites for sure and I love the laid-back, casual environment here. Triton Brewing opened their Bistro a couple years ago and they even have a kids menu!

Books and Brews

Some might say that Books & Brews is the most family friend, kid-friendly brewery in the world, but we’ll let you decide for yourself. Shelves of books for all reading levels, a collection of board games and regularly scheduled movie nights and other events make Books and Brews a favorite for our family. Their Kids Eat Free nights keep parents pretty happy too. With multiple locations throughout the area, you’ll find a Books and Brews near you.

Upland Brewing Company

Upland Brewing Company has several locations, including the family friendly Carmel Taphouse and the kid-friendly Fountain Square location.

Oaken Barrel

When we lived on the Southside of Indy, Oaken Barrel was one of our favorites! Located in Greenwood, this place has great food and a pretty good kid’s menu. It also has unique beer, like the Razz-Wheat, year round. Kids are gifted with a package of Wikki Stix and this keeps them busy until your food arrives and afterwards while you enjoy your beer.

Broad Ripple Brewpub

This classic restaurant in Broad Ripple was the first local brewpub started in 1990 and is worth the visit. We started coming here before kids so this Brewpub has always been a favorite that keeps us coming back.

Brugge Brasserie

The beer at Brugge is fantastic and like Broad Ripple Brewpub, there is a great kid’s menu! If you love crepes, this is the place to be, sometimes we just stop in for beer and crepes.

Flix Brewhouse with Kids

Not only can you get a beer and food while hanging out with your kids, you can also see a movie! Although a chain (with just three locations), FLIX does brew their own beer on site. We love their inexpensive summer movie programming and other deals. My kids love watching a movie and having food delivered right to our seat. We think Flix Brewhouse is one of the best movie theaters for kids and families too.

St. Joseph Brewery

It might not seem that children are welcome at the Lockerbie neighborhood brewery, but they are! The kids menu has your typical tasty choices and the Sunday brunch menu is delightful! This unique brewery is inside an old church and it’s really fun to look around.

Taxman Brewery

Taxman Brewery originally started in Bargersville, and now has two other family friendly locations in Fortville and at City Way. Menu items feature small to large plates, depending on appetite and there’s a children’s menu for kids ages 12 and under. Their Sunday brunch specials are popular and even cater to kids.

These are just some of the local breweries that we enjoy going to, but I know there are many more and their numbers are growing by the day! Please feel free to include your suggestions, we’re always on the lookout to support our local breweries while enjoying a family-friendly meal with the kids!

If you prefer wine, check out Urban Vines in Westfield, they have a playground for kids to play on! Oliver Winery is a great spot for a family picnic and weekend entertainment.
